It has been improving a lot since I began but mostly on the right side. The left side has a lot of very thin hairs coving the whole area however the right side is only a little less dense than the rest of my hair; yes I still use both.

Hey man. Looking back, would you recommend starting finasteride on a lower dose, say 0.5mg? I'm getting 5mg generic so it may be tricky to split it.

splitting up will not be THAT tricky buddy
get yourself some vodka (in order to solve the tab) + a dropping glass (in order to dose the solved finasteride)

ontopic: great results mayne!

Man - I thought I was sh*t out of luck until I read all 9 pages of this thread. I have pretty much the same hair loss pattern that you do and will definitely give this a try. I was concerned that the Rogaine wouldn't work on hairline but obviously not necessarily the case. So worth it just to give it a shot. I'm a little concerned though that I'll lose more hair than I'll gain based on some of your comments. Do I HAVE to take the finasteride or can I get by with the rogaine generic purely for hairline? Thanks! Congratulations!

You can get the results on your hair hairline with out propecia. But in my experience doing that I began to thin over time behind my hairline.

Get on finasteride if you can. It will halt/slow down the loss and you can gain a bit with minoxidil. Check my thread in succes stories as wel, got great results from the combination.

Here is my hair today. 5 months into finasteride and a year and 3 months on minoxidil foam. My hair is styled in this picture but this is just an idea of how it looks. After the minoxidil dries it leaves my hair slightly stiff (like mousse) which helps if you style your hair lol.

Looking really good, thanks for the update. Success stories like this and headless's story persuaded me to start on the big three. It's only been a couple of weeks.

I think you mentioned a while back that you were experiencing another shed, how did that go? Also, you mentioned that your hair above your hairline was thinning slightly due to putting minoxidil only on your hairline. Are you still applying mostly to your hairline and some to the top of your head, and how is that going also? I'm using 1/2 a cup and from that about 2/3 on the hair line and the rest on the top of my head (I have similar male pattern baldness to what you had).

The shed sucked. It lasted a couple months and made my scalp more noticeable. However, I noticed that once the shed stopped there was a spirt of growth all over the top of my scalp which filled in more of the transparency. I only apply to the hairline still (Im not sure how much I dont measure; just a dab on either side and a little in the middle. I started propecia to fight the loss behind the hairline; since it is know to affect the top more than the hairline.

nah that looks like toppix and minoxidil. .....the truth is to experience real regrowth you need to abuse the anti androgens. minoxidil only ages your skin and will turn you into both an aging and balding freak. i tried minoxidil 7 years ago and noticed my skin sagging and wrinkly after a year. whenever i tried to masturbate i felt like i was sexually abusing an impotent elderly man.

No toppix just minoxidil and finasteride. Heres a bright picture from today, February 24/14.

I do feel concerned about my mid scalp, it feels as though its thinning again; which i only noticed over a couple days. Im thinking it might be a shed but im not sure, hoping for the best.

I think comparing SP to finasteride would be similar to comparing a caffeine pill to adderall in the sense that although the former may wake you up, the latter works 1000x better. Although the debate between herbal supps and pharms have and always will be debated, prescription medications such as finasteride will ALWAYS be more effective, but thats my $0.2. With regards to the OP great job, as a fellow ontarian I can only admire your progress. Keep it up man

I just want to say thanks again to arrowzepelin for continuing to update on progress... I've read every post and looked at every picture and am monitoring your growth. I even watched some youtube videos from others who did similar treatment... your growth is obviously not normal for a lot of people. I read a lot of people doubting what you've been doing... but just know... your continued investment in responding to people and keeping this up to date helps more than you know. I haven't started yet because I can't come to grips with the initial shedding period... but one day, I'll def jump on it. Thanks again, and please continue to carve time out of your schedule to update as all.

I never even saw this response, thanks for the reply. I'll about to purchase these products now, as well as the nizoral. I did want to ask, when you cut your hair bald... weren't you worried your hair wouldn't grow back at all? I actually cut my hair very short once and I feel the consistency and pattern of the hair changed entirely... I literally went from curly to straight, which has partially led to my hairline looking so bare. Some of my hair is course thick and curly and the temples are straight very light hairs... so strange.. .thanks!

thanks headless - the more success stories the better.. heading over to your thread now! I'm hesitant to do the finasteride only because it appears once you start you have to take it forever or else the growth will fall out... but I'll take your word for it.
