Taking finasteride while wife is pregnant

My wife is finally pregnant, I've stopped taking finasteride for a year. I've lost a lot of ground.

I'm thinking of going back on it, is that OK to do?

I don't think we'll be having much sex throughout the pregnancy. And even if we do, I'll wear a condom to make sure no semen is passed onto her.

There's a lot of information on stopping finasteride while trying to conceive but not much on during the pregnancy. What do you guys think?

Finasteride is not recommended during pregnancy because it can cause birth defects in male babies even if minimal semen is passed through due to condom use. The medication can be absorbed through the skin.
It's crucial to speak to your doctor about restarting finasteride. They can consider factors like your hair loss severity, pregnancy stage, and potential risks.

Thanks for the information. It's not worth the risk. I'll stay off it.

Kevin at Haircafe has done some excellent videos on this...look them up on YouTube. The risk is very small, it seems

So I've found out that the baby is going to be a girl. Is it now safe to continue finasteride? Are there any risks to a female foetus? Me and my wife will not be having sex while she's pregnant anyway and I will be popping the finasteride tablet directly from the plastic sheet into my mouth without touching it directly with my hands.

I have lost quite a lot in the 15 months I've been off it. It looks pretty bad now but I saw someone on a recent holiday in Spain who had a similar amount of loss and it was still better than being full bald as the hairline is still thick and at about an NW1 level.

I took it while i was trying to get my wife pregnant and after she was pregnant. When i researched it the risk was minimal. She is also a pharmacist and thought it was safe.
Thanks for the update. From what I've read it's only a risk for male babies anyway. I'll resume next week.

Its all animal studies with large amount of the drug given. I think the risk is zero. Not be having sex while she is pregnant?
