this ASC-j9 is dead. the acne phase 2 test rest was completed in May this year but no results have been announced by the company.

I don't blame them, inhibiting enough androgen receptors to make a big impact is not easy at all. in fact, there are no prostate cancer drug that does that.

The most effective approach is to bind another molecule to block the androgen receptor.

this is what the Flutamide, Casodex or Spirolactone type of drugs are doing.

Androscience ain't exactly know to be the best updater's on their web page, usually a couple times a year. But yes, it seems a little dark now.

the issue is not working on the homepage..if their results were good they would annonce it somehow..at press conferances or in the news. if the results are bad they will not announce anything and just vanish..not respond to e-mails etc..
I really hope I am wrong though..

el duto, what you say makes a lot of sense, but after reading about hair loss research it seems like if the company have investors they usually not looking for much PR, but if the company is in need for investors they are quick to show results and is heavy on marketing. It really don't mater for Androscience if they don't publish annual reviews, as long as their product is moving forward. It only mathers to hairgeek like us so we have something to look forward to.

All we can do is hope that something will work and get the FDA thumbs up. But if it is like you say, a topical anti-androgen will never work.

I just received an mail from androscience, and they was awaiting updates and hoped that it was coming soon.

I don't really know how these trials works, I thought androscience was doing the trials them self?

No one knows, but Androscience have always sucked at updating their page. And it really makes no difference when it comes to the release date, it just exciting for baldies and pimple poppers to see if it makes progress.

You poking fun or is that a typo?

I hope I keep my hair long enough for that to come out. Once it is out, then I know I'm safe.

From the new website:

AndroScience currently has approval to commence a phase II clinical trial in androgenetic alopecia using the ASC-J9â„¢ compound. A foam formulation has been developed for alopecia and the company is positioning clinical trial resources and investigative sites to begin the trial towards the end of 2009.

ASC-j9 does inhibit (destroy ?) the AR, but so does BP-766:

http://www.patentstorm.us/patents/6828458/fulltext.html

this BP-766 is known as Fluridil now. I was wondering what would be the difference between those 2 drugs in the way they work, since they seem to serve the same purpose.
Perhaps this fluridil is even more powerful than ASC-j9.

Any thoughts ?

That is a patent, not a dublicated study. You trust patents? I can show you patents for just about every scam on the net. Look at one of my other threads, with some company selling minoxidil and herbs in their topical, all patented too.

I wonder what costs more: $5,000 for a patent, or putting on a TV ad. Really. Don't believe that so easily.

anything ever happen with this?

you can always just buy this stuff on your own... my guess is that it didn't work as well as they thought so they just stopped working on it
