my regimen from 2007 to fall 2009: Propecia every day, nizoral 1% on mon, wed and fri (keep it in at least 5 min), rogaine foam applied to thin spots every morning and night.

Jan 2009:
Heres my story: I lurked for a while but joined in March2008 and read as much info as i could. Shortly after, I started on the big 3. I had almost immediate results. Within about 6 months, I had almost all of my hair back. I got cocky and decided to remove all of my old pictures of my hair, like it never happened. Now I feel like an idiot because I want to compare my current pictures to them. Currently I have 99% of my hair back, and the other 1% is peach fuzz regrowth.

I was only a NW2-3, but I had obvious thinning over the whole area, a very thin spot on the front right in the middle, and receding at the temples. It hit me like a ton of bricks out of nowhere when I was 22. It started with the receding temples, then the spot on the front. When I saw the thinning across the whole male pattern baldness area, I decided I had to do something. I remember saying to myself "oh my God I am going to be bald." I'm grateful I found this site!

Just one question: are the short hairs near your temple the regrown ones? Are they a lighter colour or is that just due to lighting?

Hahha I'm on finasteride and nizoral at the moment, heading into my 3rd month. I hope the dreaded shed doesn't come because I just finished school and looking for a job so I need all the hair I can get.

haha thats funny. the shed never happened for me... i hope it doesnt for you either. but to answer your question - the shorter darker hairs used to be white and thin, and now they are coming in dark. The white ones are the newest regrowth hairs I just noticed, and hopefully they will cycle and come back dark.

I also wanted to note that no regrowth was noted at the temples while i was only on finasteride and nizoral. the foam kicked it into high gear and it started coming back within 2-3 months.

Gah. Darn it. I was hoping I wouldn't have to add minoxidil back into my routine, topicals were a pain and Rogaine gave me quite an irritated scalp after a couple of months. I might have to try out other formulations. Thanks :3

Hey mate, congrats, it looks really good!

Just wondering if you were using real or generic meds? If you got generics, where'd you order from?

thanks! im using 1/2 propecia every day. i had the sexual sides with 1mg, but not with 0.5. i heard its almost just as effective when its cut in half, and also half the price. i get it prescribed from my doctor and i have insurance, so its still cheap for me.

the rogaine foam is great. i just put a small line directly to my hair line, and it dries almost instantly. a can lasts over 2 months for me. it looks and feels like there is nothing in it.

Fu%king great hair. How aggressive was your hair loss at 22? Did you loss a load of hair every day?

Also what sexual sides did you get? Weak erections? Testicular pain?

Man , you make me wanna jump right back on finasteride.

Thank you! Back when I was 22, I started noticing my hair all over the place. In the shower, on my desk at work, I just saw it everywhere. Id say it was pretty aggressive, it seems like it was one month into it and I could see the thin areas spreading. I remember catching some light in the mirror and seeing the whole top was a little lighter in color and thinner than the sides and the back, I thought to myself "holy crap, Im going to be BALD"

I was browsing through my photo albums, and I got somewhat of a good comparison.
The first photo was taken in 2006, the second in 2007. You can tell the overall volume of hair was just gone. I would say pretty aggressive.

Oh and as far as the sexual sides, I had a hard time maintaining. 2 seconds of distractions and it would be done and over.

inland, man... That must've hit you really hard...

I thought my hair was going fast too, but I was too much in denial to take pictures and look in a mirror since I was 21-24... And nobody told me anything so I was none the wiser. Glad you're doing great on big 3 though :3

Re: big 3. big 3. big 3.

hey inland, those results are fantastic! can I ask why you use rogaine foam instead of the liquid form of minoxidil? would you recomend it for hairline rather than the liquid minoxidil? I wonder why they say not to use it for receeding hairlines when it's obviousely working good for you ;)

was there much shedding on the hairline due to the foam?

i use the foam only for convenience. i believe they say it doesnt work for receding hairlines because usually its the first hair to go, and its very hard to get back when the follicles have been dead for years. my hair loss only started a few years ago, so i thought i would give it a shot. if i did get a shed, it was very small. i tried not to look, because i didnt want to get discouraged and stop using it, i wanted to wait it out. in the future i may switch to the liquid minoxidil to hit the whole area.
