derminator is a msut have, if you can afford it. Way better than dermarolling and way less painful.
Wait......I thought dermapen/derminator was even more painful than dermaroller...

Im a ghost reader .......Couple things id like to add to this thread people keep referring to dermorolling and wounding.
I feel rollers are hard to be accurate or consistent with due to pain and speed i feel mechanized needling lets you skip the psychological barrier of pushing the needles in. In the first study someone else did the needling and in the second mechanized study too the subjects just had to endure and i imagine zone out surly this would up efficiency in both methods.
The term wounding seems off to me Disruption does seem better as i was under impression we are trying to trick a response from the body into thinking its more hurt than it is.
Also some one posted a tressless before after many pages back of a shaved head man in the before he had a stubborn forelock with blue haze around it in the scalp tissue and in the after the blue haze had spread to the strongest regrowth areas. What is that hair under skin or a sort of revascularization?

Not sure if I saw that, do you have a link?
Hey Guys,
I've been reading this forum for a while and I really appreciate everyone being so open and helpful with each other. I would like to ask a few questions and get some solid binary answers. Mostly of MinervaCGI, Somebody, and Frenchy, anyone else can comment as well, but I think we should pin my comment so people have a clear idea of the regimen that is effective.
What I would love to have is clear short answers that would be helpful for all and let's try to stick to the format I have below for easy reading. Just Bold and Underline the thing you think is best in each category and leave comments if you l like. We will get a consensus about what works most effectively. This would also put to rest a lot of my questions about what to use, for how long, and to make a budget around this treatment. Thank you!
Tool: Dermapen (best value) vs Derminator (more expensive - possibly best tool) vs Dermaroller (cheapest, painful, user error )
Use: Once a week vs every 2-3 days
Length of Needles: 1.5mm vs 2mm
Method:
Number of needles:
- (Dermapen) Staying in one spot for how many seconds?
- (Dermaroller) Roll till Minor redness vs small blood spots?
Application of Minoxidil: Right after vs wait 24hrs
- Dermapen&Derminator 12 vs 36
- Dermaroller 192 vs 520
Needle replacement:
Numbing cream: Lidocaine 5% vs over the counter stuff
- Dermapen&Derminator: Everytime vs Every 3 times
- Dermaroller: 2 months vs Until dull
Essential Oils: Rosemary vs peppermint
Average cost per month:
- Dermapen $________
- Derminator $_______
- Dermaroller $______
Other questions:
Thank you again Guys! I think this will be very beneficial for all of us to see this information in one posting. I know it definitely will be for me. Let's get our hair back!
- Did you experience shedding at first with Minoxidil and Dermarolling?
- What is Somebody's regimen?
- What has been the hardest thing about Dermarolling for you?
- How do you say consistent?
Long time needler here (2 years).
Tool: Just use needles. Dermastamps are cheap, there's no good reason to use a dermaroller instead, and plenty of reasons not to.
Frequency/Depth: You probably want to pick the depth that you're most comfortable with, and adjust the frequency based on that. Ex, 1.5mm could be every week or two, but 2.0mm should probably be spaced out at least 2.5 weeks. Totally rough estimates.
Minoxidil: Wait 24 hours. Maybe longer if you really go deep or rip up your scalp.
Needle replacement: It's all about the quality of the needles and your ability to sanitize them.
Numbing cream: Look up posts by @HairCook about why lidocaine might not be a good idea, but I used it and still got results.
Shedding at first? No
Hardest thing? Devoting a day to recover every few weeks. Second hardest thing? Running the Derminator when other people are around. Not exactly quiet. Derminator 2 is supposed to be better.
Staying consistent? Seeing results and knowing that's how you got them. Patience is part of the regimen.
Have you gotten any results from the dermarolling?
pics?Initially mild regrowth (first 4 or so months) then up to month 8 good hair, now returning back to baseline. I still Dermaroll because why the hell not but i put down the majority of the effects to increased minoxidil absorption. Also i still have a lot of hair so that may be why i never had any "amazing results"
@ToLGuy I have been on minoxidil for 3 1/2 years and propecia for 4 1/2 years. Dermarolling gave me a nice little boost this past year but nothing amazing.
Btw when i say dermaroll i actually use a dermastamp.

If the wounds are bigger, doesn't that make the absorption better? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯Dermaroller's mechanism makes it more painful.

It is considered a "technological upgrade".

Yeah, I don't see any tracks on my scalp and when I posted the pic right after rolling some people here said I was over doing it.The Chinese used a pen and got better results than the Indian study and the length of the study was twice as long and so was the frequency.
I say this because I've got tire tracks on my forehead right now because of dermarolling. They were bad before but they seem to be dissapearing and as the doctor said it will take a month to 45 days for them to disappear completely.
If you don't get those tracks then there is absolutely nothing wrong in using a dermaroller.
Oh yes yes, I remember you now. Yeah you have a good amount of hair and you don't look like a hairloss sufferer at all anymore.I have posted them earlier in this thread, or you can look at them in an old thread i made when i first started dermarolling.

By the way, when you said "I'm returning back to baseline", do you mean that you are losing the boost you got by dermarolling? Or that you are getting back to your "before starting to lose hairl" state?
We were all hoping that unlike minoxidil, gains from needling are more permanent if you stick to the weekly regimen. What can you tell us about this, now that it's been over a year for you
Dammit, I shoulda bought a stamp from the very beginning... January can't come fast enough. I wanna get started already.
I wanted to go for the Derminator myself, but my wallet fucks me with a spoon twice daily. Thought the stamp was the middle ground, since cheap pens seem to give problems and dermarollers appear to not work that well.I personally would have liked a stamp too because I'm in more control but I was worried about infection. I will try the pen and if I'm not satisfied I'm going after the stamp.
