Welp! Sounds like a nightmare for an OCD person such as myself, but I'm trying the f*** out this.

Hey man. Fellow OCD patient here. It's really not as bad as one might think. This is precisely what I do: sterilize needles, wash hair, keep hands clean, perform the procedure, sterilize needles, wait a few minutes, rinse hair with cold water (to remove any blood). Also, I preferably do this in the morning to avoid going to bed right after.

I've used the dermaroller about 5-6 times now. Nothing bad has happened and it gets easier every time (still hurts though, haha).
Probably going to upgrade to the derminator by the end of the year.

wow since 2013, how have your results been buddy?
Uhmm i think i’m maintaining all these years.. tried minoxidil but that doesnt help with regrowt, so only dermarolling. I go in deep ones every 1.5 weeks
I press the dermaroller deep and i roll very slow. You can hear it pop in.... i’m an old member From the old banned dermaroller thread.

Ow and last time i went to the hairdresser she was washing my hair and gave a compliment about how much hair i have

Just maintaining? So you got no regrowth? Not even in the first year? Also what's your regimen, are you on finasteride? I guess if you are not on finasteride or miox, then maintainence with dermarolling alone can be considered a great achievement. Dunno if that will satisfy me though, as I do need a little bit of regrowth in my crown

Do you mind telling me your age and Norwood level before you started rolling? I’m 24 with a NW3 diffuse hoping to at least maintain. Just wondering how this works for semi-aggressive balding

I waited 24 hours and didnt have any issues.....I also read online general Derma needling FAQ's for people who have it on their face and the clinics advised you can wear makeup 24 hours after...so I'd imagine if thats ok...hair products 24 hours later is fine.

I don't understand why ppl aren't using a simple dermaroller(that's what they used in the study).
This is a good question. I'm torn between getting a 2.0mm dermaroller and going full out and getting a dermapen. The roller is a fraction of the price.

Think you can use either....but as far as I've read, Dermaroller is a lot more painful and far less efficient. But both effectively do the same job......Id personally rather pay the extra and have less pain and do a quicker more efficient job.

I've been using a derma-roller as per @Somebody 's thread to increase absorption of minoxidil. It's basic and 1.5mm. Am seeing some slow progress. I haven't tried wounding though. I'm keen to try this. Thinking of getting 2.0mm derma-roller. To get the pen and needles will set me back about 80euro vs about 20 for the derma-roller.

So the day I micro needle no conditioner/wax/oil or anything?

I'm interested to find out how is the dermaroller less efficient.

In the studies, they used a 1.5mm dermaroller. Don't think that by getting bigger needles means more success, it's not usually the case.

Myself, I'm using a dermaroller, (once/week ,for 2-3 weeks now) and I roll until a mild erythema is noted .I strive to roll for about 10 minutes.

Read this for instance:

https://santesouthlake.com/microneedling-dermaroller-micropen/

or

https://www.naturawhite.com/dermapen-vs-dermaroller/

1300 Holes Per Second vs 100 Holes Per Second....but again, im no expert....use whatever you feel comfortable with.

Neither links provide any peer -reviewed studies to compare those 2. It seems more like marketing because the dermapen is newer and more profit to be made by it.

One thing though, regarding the pain score of dermaroller vs dermapen. Maybe the way it makes wounds(dermaroller) is better for hair growth stimulation and as far as I know there aren't any studies(correct me if I'm wrong) using dermapens for hair growth (just simple dermaroller). So...why fix something that actually has been proven to work ?

Use the roller then....no skin off my nose....I just felt the Pen would be a better experience than manually pushing the pins into my head on a roller......ive had tattoos in the past and found it relatively painless and found the same using a Dermapen.

I started to notice thinner temples when i was 25 after that i did Nothing until i was 27 i got comments that i had a bald spot on my crown, the whirl was thinning and i started to freak a bit. Tried stupid things like balayam and did scalp excersizes From Tom haggerty. I still do the scalp excersizes because i learned to control the muscles but i dont do it every day.
When i was 28 i bought 3 strips of finasteride and stopped because i didnt notice anything.
By the time i was 30-31 i read alot on the dermoroller/wounding forum and bought minoxidil and a 1.5 dermaroller and i have to honestly say that i regrew alot of hair on the temples, but got lazy after 6 months and stopped minoxidil from kirkland. I only wounded my temples where i wanted regrowt and did lighter Rolling on the top and crown. After 2 years when i was 33 i only did some light Rolling once a month.
Last year i noticed that my temples where getting thinner again and started to do somebody’s regime but it didnt do a thing. 2months ago i started wounding again and i have tons of small hairs in the temples, but they aren’t getting long... but 2 months is short
i’m 37 now and the top and crown is very full and i dont use any medication.

So to make things clear...
in my twenties people told me i was thinning and now when i’m 37 nobody says a thing! Because i have more hair then when i was 28.
