It wouldn't be a bad idea for all users in the thread to post their results in a template like this:

Depth: [1.5, 2.0, etc]
Device type: [A6, Derminator 2, etc]
Speed: [17000 per min]
Frequency: [Once per week, every other week, etc]
Total sessions:
Supplemental treatments: [Minoxidil, finasteride, RU, etc]
Shed: [yes or no]
Description of results:

Even though this whole experiment isn't scientific, it doesn't mean we can't produce data more usable than anecdotes.
Depth: [1.5mm]
Device type: [Derminator2, Dermaroller]
Speed: [Fast setting, slower with the dermaroller]
Frequency: [Once-Twice per week]
Total sessions: 19-20
Supplemental treatments: [Minoxidil]
Shed: [no]
Description of results: posts above.

Needling was used in the past but not in the way that it's being used now. Plus, the diameter of the needles that they were using probably caused a little too much blood flow.

Posting data is such a great idea that I forgot to include my own...

And y'all don't have to include the brackets in the answers. I just did that to indicate examples.

Depth: 2.0mm
Device type: Dr. Pen A7
Speed: 17000 per min
Frequency: Every other week
Total sessions: 8
Supplemental treatments: Minoxidil and RU58841
Shed: Yes
Description of results: Weeks 1 through 2: Loose scalp feel and no shed. Weeks 3 through 6: Consistent shed of 100+ hairs per day. Noticeable loss of hair density. Weeks 7 and 8: Reduced rate of shed, ~50 hairs per day.

I don't think so. Most of the stories i've seen of inflammation going down have been due finasteride or dutasteride usage, so I think DHT is pretty related to inflammation the scalp, so I don't see how something that creates inflammation (dermarolling) is going to decrease inflammation? this is the meain reason im scared to do this. I haven't solved my itch problem completely. The topical foam with the finasteride helps a bit but it never got rid of it completely, we'll see how the dutasteride goes.

Yeah I just dropped dutasteride. My hairline kept getting worse and worse and the itch was way higher on thehairline during my dutasteride run. Hopefully I wont thin out and become more diffuse. Finasteride was doing a fine job at maintaining all my hair except for the hairline, that slowly got worse. But now Im using minoxidil again. I hope dutasteride improves your hair in every aspect, and isn't gonna hit your hairline!

And they got lymph node cancer XD

Not about it

I use the derminator on Friday night.

I wear a cap on Saturday and Sunday and I’ve had zero issues.

There’s no f*****g way I’d rub any chemical “directly” on my scalp after a session. Except possibly minoxidil. Grudgingly.

So many people are doing it and are alive to talk about it I don’t believe it’s a problem.

On Mondays I’m back to putting hair styling products in my hair.

It's official. In this current community trial, @layabout is arguably the best and earliest responder so far. Important to note tho, that his initial status wasn't too bad. I hope other older hair loss sufferers like me could eventually get there, but it's obvious that if it works, it will take way longer.

Also, for those posting "data", there is already a form suggested by the user @benjt2 who has been collecting data and posting it in another thread. To standardize all this data and make it comparable, let's please follow that form, which is way more detailed than the one posted in the last page. One of the most important piece of info is the date in which minoxidil and finasteride are started.
I hate to be the one who reminds this again and again, but guys please remember that those who start finasteride/min at the same time as needling should not be included as useful data for making inferences in this community trial.

Here is the survey of @benjt2 I was talking about.

Current date: [for reference for the dates to be provided below and for survey updates in the future, please specify current date as dd/mm/yy]
Nickname:
Age:
Hairloss started at:
Current Norwood:
Balding pattern: [diffuse, receding or both]
Affected areas: [frontal hairline/crown/vertex/temples/[Norwood area]]
Treatment history:
  • [treatment1] since [month/year] until [month/year]
  • [treatment2] since [month/year] until [month/year]
  • and so on
Needling since: [specify date or month/year]
Needling until: ["still needling"; otherwise specify date or month/year in case you stopped]
Not needling anymore because: [please specify reason in case you are no longer needling]
Needling frequency (average): [daily/weekly/biweekly etc.]
Needling, total number of sessions:
Needling device: [roller/stamp/pen and brand]
Needling depth/needle length: [specify mm]
Needling intensity: [no redness / mild redness / redness / drawing few drops of blood / drawing lots of blood]
Needled areas: [please specify]
Needling side effects: [please specify, e.g. redness for X days, flaking after Y days, etc.]
Using minoxidil: [yes/no]
On minoxidil since: [specify date, so people can figure out if you started with rolling, before, or added only later]
Using other treatments at the same time: [please specify]
Witnessing regrowth: [yes/no]
Regrowth since: [please specify as month/year or from start of needling, in weeks and/or months]
Pattern of regrowth: [please describe, i.e. only vellus or also terminal and in which areas]
Description of and satisfaction with regrowth: [please describe. you may assign points on a scale from -5 to +5 or use words]
Photos showing own progress or lack thereof: [OPTIONAL, but preferred: please add photos, preferrably with timestamp directly on photo]

There are 2 types of inflammation. Acute inflammation (cuts, scratches and so forth) and chronic inflammation (when response lingers far longer than it should be).

DHT is converted from testosterone in your sebaceous gland and are mediated by binding to the androgen receptor. Combining that with a bad diet high in cholesterol results with a higher sebum production, therefore gland is enlarging. As it gets bigger over the years basically there isn't enough space for hair follicle. Like it wasn't enough persistent inflammation results with calcification and fibrosis, which is why it is much easier to prevent then to regrow.

Itch and dandruff is a strong signal of chronic inflammation. Most people just use targeted shampoo's, but it only fights symptoms not the cause. Even when scalp appears healthy after shower, inflammation persists. Acne scars are a common example of inflammation and as we can see in the studies, dermarolling helps immensely triggering healing response through acute wounding and combat chronic inflammation.

[QUOTE = "layabout, post: 1763269, membro: 139292"] Cazzo.

Thinking about buying a better pen. Either derminator 2 or dr pen. Can anyone recommend which one I should get?

Derminator 2 is the probably the better needle device, but it's not wireless which puts me off it, im just sticking with dr.pen ultima a6. Works well enough for what i want.
