Nah, I closed my mailchimp account when I saw the low number of people willing to actually do something. Back then the biggest objection people gave was to who would we give the money to. Now that we could focus exclusively on Lauster's team, I'm guessing it could play better.

Still, there is but a handful of people here willing to actually contribute. Even the real scientists in this forum with actual degrees would rather spend countless hours disecting rat studies and trying to see if they can find the "missing link". And for what...? What good will come of it having intelligent discussions about DHT, growth factors and water fall effects of the root cause? I'll tell you what, nothing... Its just another way of coping with hair loss, venting. Because they should know that even if they do find some "hidden gem", maybe something the researchers overlooked, it will be for nothing. They're not going to contact Lauster, Cotsaralis, Garza or any of the other hair loss researchers anyways. So the way I see it, they're wasting their time just like everyone else here. Even if they don't care to admit it. Is this not true...? Or do you actually enjoy coming here, correcting the ignorant members who can't seem to understand the scientific process and the actual complexity of working in the field of science?

I have been here long enough to know they are very smart people. Why not lend us a hand writing the content for the website? You know your knowledge would be accurate and should be easier to digest by Lauster's team. I wish I could do it myself, I really do, I would do it today if I could. However, that is not a gift I have. So, Benj and any of the other scientists care to participate in something that can actually make an impact? Or do you want this forum to go back to the old days? The good old days where a new rat study would point to another piece of the puzzle?

Anyways, that's all I have to say. Maybe this comment will just get overlooked like every of the other ones actually worth while.

I really agree with that second paragraph. I really think that a lot of these "researchers" are not really interested in finding a cure. I agree that a lot of them dissect these mouse studies to death and claim to find "clues", "insights", or "alternate interpretations" to hair loss yet they never seem to be interested to bring any of these studies to human application. I've been saying this for years. Also, a lot of their studies are repetitive. For instance, as far back as the late 90's, it has been known that manipulation of the WNT pathway can lead to increased hair growth yet I still see researchers making "discoveries" to that effect to this day.

I am new to this site, but I would've loved to have contributed to something substantial to fund a cure to hair loss. It really seems like the majority of the hair loss industry (the hair transplant surgeons, the wigmakers, the advocates) really do not have our best interests at heart and seek to maintain the status quo at all costs. I really think that Dr. Lauster is onto something and I'd love to contribute to a fast release of his technology (I recently won some money in a sports betting pool), although I do have some concerns. As Hellouser has stated, this technology really has to be released in Japan since I really have no interest in funding something that will be available to us in 10 years. Also, is his technology strictly cellular? Meaning that if he injects hair germs into the scalp, will these germs grow into terminal hairs and stimulate dormant hair stem cells? Or will they just clone actually hairs outside of the body that need to be transplanted by a surgeon? I would extremely prefer the former as opposed to the latter since I have major concerns with the hair transplant industry.

We are in the process of a foundation version 2.0 if you will. Hopefully in one or two weeks(if everything goes smoothly) I will post a thread and a website. I already got someone awesome doing the content writing, so it should be good this time, learning from our past failures. We have to address a few wrinkles, but that will come with time. Dr. Lauster is indeed into something big here, but it does have it's flaws of scalability, so we have to factor that out to see if people are willing to make that trade off. So we can discuss the pros and cons, which we will have some of details on the website anyways.

Nevertheless, if you're interested, we can use more people to contribute spreading the word out, or translating the content. So just keep an eye out in the near future.

Will do. Thanks for the response. This is an awesome idea that you have. The vast majority of hair loss sufferers are extremely frustrated by today's limited and inferior options, and would literally jump at the chance to have a procedure like Lauster's become available.

Its all shrouded in secrecy because of a little thing called money. Loose lips sink ships is every bit as true today as it was then. Information is power and you dont give it away until you take your shot at the money before everyone else can dive into what you did and copy or build on it to beat you there.

if anything hair transplant doctors will be busier than ever

It'll be a while before they move from performing on mice to humans of course. Naturally, thats how things go with hair loss. Mice first, humans second.
