Are you a diffuse thinner to go along with the itching? Did propecia work for you at first? Is duta working for you now?

I really worry about propecia actually making my hair worse

I had a bad shed on propecia first, but after 2 years my hair looked pretty much without any signs of thinning or hairloss. Then I think it maintained for 2-3 years and then slowly went downhill from there. Last year I did my ‘no shampoo’ experiment and it did a lot of damage, probably due to inflammation on my scalp.

Yes, I’m diffuse thinner and dutasteride pretty much destroyed my hairline. But I will try to persevere and hope for the best.

In my opinion you really have no better option than finasteride. On the long run you will not keep your hair without some form of antiandrogen. Everything else is just bullshit.

When you say first started shedding, how soon do you mean? I shedded like absolutely crazy after a single pill of propecia (literally a sink full overnight), took for a few more days and just tapered off. Since I’ve been shedding but not quite as badly but itch does seem worse...

My balding really isn’t bad but I am thinning in nw5 distribution, which worries me that it could go really quick if I don’t do something. I really feel like I’m damned if I do and damned if I don’t here...

Sorry for thread hijacking

I really doubt one single pill of finasteride made you shed. Shed does not start immediately to my experience. In my opinion it needs at least a couple of weeks.

I had bad shed for the first 4 months on finasteride. With my thin hair my scalp was shining through but it all went upwards after that.

Every hairloss treatment comes with the possibility of the shed.

As I said itch is gone by 80-90%. I think a lot of it is taurine I added a couple of weeks ago. Or maybe Dutasteride is working. Who knows.
When your hairline was getting raped, did you have a bad itch there?

Hope it helps. Btw, how is it different from cortisone?
The f*** if I know, someone earlier said that they used it and the itch went away so that’s what’s happening right now. I guess in the same way that I’m taking saw palmetto, pumpkin seed pills, fenugreek, oral castor oil, topical spironolactone, curcumin, zix, and putting children’s liquid cetrizine in my shampoo, bc someone said it worked for them. I really wanna keep my hair, but I really want to stop this itch bc I cant function with it. So ointment tubes up and god speed!!!

And to add irony to this I’ve adopted a vegan diet in hopes of beating this. I own a bbq restaurant.

Clobestasol is a stronger potency steroid. I would be careful that will thin your skin if you use it too long (I work in medicine and see parents who use prolonged topical steroids and it’s bad)

Your itch must be really bad? Maybe try upping your duta dose

I tried to go to 1 mg and it almost seemed to make the itch worse...it was weird

That is weird man. I’m guessing you are either a hyper responder to testosterone, have reflex Hyperandrogenism or are currently having a telegenic effluvium.

Maybe it would be worth it to try oral spironolactone if you really hate it?

Also I’d suggest crushing Zyrtec pills in water, works much better in my experience.

I’ve also noticed spicy foods seem to help my itching, thinking of trying oral Caspacin. Peppermint oil also kills it but will burn
