0.5 mg dutasteride once per 5 days is almost exactly the same as 5mg finasteride per day, both in terms of type1 and type2. twice that much dutasteride is much stronger than 10mg finasteride. dutasteride becomes very strong at higher concentrations, whereas finasteride keeps its strength at lower concentrations.
the main difference is dutasteride is probably metabolised differently and stays in your system longer and has an affect on type 1 when you use more than 1 per 5 days.

Unbelievable.....why did I not make the switch sooner? I just got back from my Doctor's office, and the pharmacy. He gave me a prescription for 90 capsules of Avodart. With my insurance......it cost $19.24 :freaked2:

if i read back over this thread will i find a graph/study to support the assertion that dutasteride once or three times a week will be better than 5mg finasteride? i understand the rates of inhibition, but are there haircounts etc? because thats the real evidence would you not agree?
not in this thread. Just in the phaseII fda trials for dutasteride, which tested 0.05mg/day, 0.1, 0.5, and 2.5 mg/day of dutasteride vs 5mg finasteride per day and placebo.
0.1mg per day is the same as 5mg of finasteride. bryan posted this in another thread, and I saw the results on a different site before losing them.
because of half life issues, I think you should take it more often than every 5 days. 2x per week should be good and a bit better than 0.1mg/day.
But generic finasteride is cheaper than Avodart. I just use the dutas.
