I do not consider religious Muslims to be animals. I know some in the real world, they're fine people, I have no problem forming meaningful friendships with them, going to their homes, etc.

The issues are that:
1) Excessive religiosity (fundamentalism) leads to insanity, and that's also true of judaism and christianity and mormonism. Wahhabism is a toxic branch of Islam with a lot of power. There are toxic branches within Judaism as well but they're less powerful so they don't matter. Within Christianity, you have lunatics who won't allow doctors to operate on their children, or to do blood transfusions, because it's "not God's will".

2) Bad Muslim leadership. If you look at Israel, the government funds art, science, and technology. In the Christian world, governments and rich people fund art, science, and technology. Now contrast that to the house of Saud. They fund technology if it means buying American weapons to kill Muslims, or buying German cars to ride around and have fun with.

We live in a sea of propaganda which encourages us to hate people.

Growing up, I heard a lot of bigotry directed (separately) at gays and Muslims. The first time I met some gays and Muslims in the real world I had trouble interacting with them, as they were an idea to me, rather than people. Fact is, the ones I've met were perfectly normal people for the most part.

My recommendation to everybody is to be aware that all humans are animals, and all humans are humans.
