All The Horrors Of Losing Hair. Why Can't People Understand?

Another thing is being worried about doing "normal" day to day things that may mess with your hair eg going out when it's windy or going swimming. This is especially worse if your with friends or family because they may find out how bald you really are.

I think you're similarly diffuse like me Buck so f*** do I understand this. There's nothing worse than a thinning guy who thinks he can grow it out and give the illusion of hair, the ONLY option is to keep it pretty damn short, and constantly gauge, practically down to the day, when it's getting too long and when it's time to cut. I sometimes decide on a "whim" (if you could call it that, I think it's calculated) that right now I absolutely have to get my hair cut, it's gone past the point where it's short enough to give the illusion of some form of density. If it goes any longer it's just strands, and the pointing up strands of the fringe remind me of a depleting chopped up forest.

So on any day between about 3-5 weeks I decide that it's just gotten too long and it's time to trim it again, the next morning.

Has to be done. So anyone who could suggest I "grow it out" would be sick at the results, its amazing how people think hair works, because they never have to worry about it.

Some, not many, are so stupid that on some subconscious level they really do think that you can just grow more if you wanted to. They don't really think this through (or are incapable of it) but in the back of their heads they don't process why you don't have more hair, as if bald guys are bic'ing, combovering, thinning, all for the fun of it.

But a more common stupid opinion from otherwise normal people, is thinking "you can just grow it out as it'll look like more hair" uhm, f*****g no! Parts of the hair are f*****g gone! Done! So it's not like the rest of the strands still growing provide some coverage, like an upside down mop.

It just gets more transparent the more it grows, pretty simply really, you see right through it. With short hair it's less open to patchy scrutinising parts.

"It just gets more transparent the more it grows, pretty simply really, you see right through it. With short hair it's less open to patchy scrutinising parts."

This is f*****g nonsense a lot of the time to be honest.

Pretty much full coverage of scalp in direct sunlight as well, apart from the small area at the crown which can pass for cowlick directly after shampooing.

I realise not everyone likes to have long hair, but the fact is that a lot of people with diffusing could pass for fullheads if they grew it out. "3-5 weeks" like you say is not long enough to get the benefits of length, in my case at 2 months I look like a fullblown norwood 5 and at 3 months I almost look like a fullhead now even in sunlight (obviously benefited from the transplant at the front at this stage too).

Definitely think a lot of people would benefit from trying to grow it out rather than throwing in the towel at 3-5 weeks which is a joke. Have you actually tried to grow it out on top for more than 2 months?

I can assure you, I would not have these results! And I think you are a rare case, but this is indeed eye opening.

Obviously I have tried going past the 5 weeks, probably as long as 3 months or more, of course, but it looked horrendous. Your results are definitely a lot better, you totally have the illusion of a full head of hair.

A guy at work who is very similar in diffuse and Norwood to me, he grew his a bit longer than usual and yeah, it was awful looking. You could see right through the damn thing.

I guess it's case by case then, bucky knows what I mean about keeping it short, and I've seen that advice from a lot of guys who went bald. Don't try and pretend you have something you do not, because it's very obvious and looks worse/desperate. I have no explanation whatsoever why your hair looks so thick, it's really baffling to me actually, but congrats on that.

That is true about diffuse hair. Unless someone is a four or higher, and has the head shape for it, shaving might be a valid alternative.

Longer hair covers diffuse hair much better.

Bradley cooper did well with his hair, considering his father was a Norwood 6/7 before he died. Cooper is in his forties.

The thing is he draws a lot of attention to his hair (goes to sport events, and dies his hair Ronald McDonald red). If he didn't do that, people wouldn't notice.

I'm ignoring you. I'd advise you to reciprocate.

You keep posting after every single post I make, pointing an arrow to it, and I know what you're doing, like a child hovering his hand over anothers face and going "not touching you can't get mad". But I sometimes forget you are indeed a child, which is why you're a fat alcoholic with nothing to offer to this world except being a cog in conversational progression.

I'm really have a sh*t time lately generally and today I've got more shitty news and I asked you politely to leave me alone and you've responded by being even more f*****g petty, when I just want to come on here to relax for a bit. What the f*** is wrong with you?

You guys need to fight to the death in real life, online bickering is pointless.

We don't need to do anything. I don't want to acknowledge the guy anymore and am simply asking he does the same so I can mainly forget of his annoyingly useless presence on this forum. It's difficult to ignore when you come on daily to 2 quotes hes made to you and several likes.

I will be okay as long as this is your last post to me. I really have no interest in writing to you so after this, I will not be replying to you as long as you keep the same promise.

Different lighting helps. It's not that hard to figure out.

I checked again and it is actually 4 months of growth that it takes to get coverage. Convinced looking at these that a lot of diffusers just haven't tried growing it out properly. It clearly isn't just a lighting issue.

How does it look style wise? Just looking at that 2nd picture is it going a bit:

I mean it's still better than looking thin. The reason I ask is because it's been years but as well as seeing through my longer hair it also looked crappy longer.

I'm probably just going to grow it out until I'm at about 7.5 months and then after a cut might try some more conventional styling options, I've always preferred a messier, low-maintenance look with my hair though. Agree that it isn't the most refined look but it suits, also getting the balance between coverage and refinement perfect is hard as that perfect length only lasts about a fortnight after a cut and I like to go 2-2.5 months between cuts.

In terms of people my age In my city of Australia long, messy hair is the norm, very few rock fade cuts or short hair so I'm not too concerned with letting it get a bit out of control.

Ok I see, I realised after that Jeff Daniels was probably a bad example and this is more what I mean:

I know this isn't unfashionable and people like it but for me personally I'd hate to have hair like that.

Mine doesn't quite go like that but it's definitely not slick looking so I'll keep it short.

You've pretty much pointed out an average length in terms of a lot of the university and band/artsy types I hang out with, so was never concerned with doing this post-transplant. I do get the impression styles are a little different and tend to be on the shorter end in Europe and the US though.

I'm planning on adding 1000 grafts to thicken the crown and then 1500 densing up the previously transplanted area and straightening the hairline a tad in a year or two which should help get it a little more refined.
