When I first started applying minoxidil my shed was from about week 3 - week 5. It was pretty dramatic and that was with only one application per day. In my opinion you should keep using the minoxidil and ride out the shed. Also, no regimen is complete with finasteride. I'm not sure why so many people...
I've been on finasteride for 4.5 years with no side effects whatsoever. I'd really consider adding it if you're serious about keeping your hair. You can start with .25mg/day and work your way up to 1mg if you're that worried about sides.
hey, i don't see much balding honestly. even if you are i think it's way too early to start any sort of medication regimen. keep an eye on it, take pics, and see if it gets noticeably worse over the next 6 to 12 months. that's my opinion!
i only do foam once a day and only apply it to my temples. it hasn't regrown any hair but for me it's all about maintenance and i haven't lost much off the temples either (which were already pretty receded when i started foam).
finasteride is well known for not helping as much on the temples. so in...
shedding means its working! 3 months is EXACTLY when the shed is at its worse.
when i started finasteride i got some gnarly shedding.. really bizarre patterns too like the back of my head...
it had all regrown and thickened up by about month 6 and stayed that way.. 3 years and going!
Can you post some pics of the temples? Pull your hair back on the forehead and take some pics with good lighting.
The vertex area does appear to be thinning a bit, but combined with some pics of the temples that will really tell the story.
Any bald or balding men in your family? Dad? Uncles...
It's different for everyone.. sounds like you are one of the lucky "super responders" so congrats.. no telling how much improvement you might see.
I'm coming up on 3 years and started around a NW2.5/NW3 too. I regrew some on my vertex, and stopped the temple recesssion, but not much regrowth...
Why are you taking 5mg/day? Doesn't work like that. 1mg/day is all you need.
Your hair looks almost identical to November last year so I'd say the finasteride is definitely working for you. What a lot of people don't realize is that even slowing your hairloss is still success.. for most people there...
Yeah, it really doesn't bother me that much.. finasteride has been a miracle drug for me, totally stopped my hair loss in its tracks so I'm willing to undergo the slight social discomfort of picking up the script.
I'm aware Proscar is the cheaper option, I guess I'm just somewhat superstitious since...
So I've been going to the same Wal-Mart Pharmacy for about 2 years to refill my propecia script. Usually it is older/middle aged women who work the register and while it's a bit embarrassing it's definitely not bad.
Yesterday, however, I went after work and there was a 20-something, balding...
i don't think anyone should be allowed to post on this board without having a pic of their hair for all to see! well.. not really.. but sometimes i feel that way.
you've got kids coming here saying life is over, they post a pic, and they are actually very good looking (with or without hair) and...
i would never tell anyone with hairloss to check out propecia. that is something everyone has to research and discover on their own. if it bothers him enough he'll find out about the meds.
Looks like CLASSIC male pattern baldness to me.
Those temples are receeded pretty bad, you can see the strands clinging on for dear life, the crown is thinning too.
It's up to you what you want to do. Maybe don't do anything and see if it gets worse.
When my hair got to your level I started on finasteride/minoxidil which...
