Why couldn't it affect the hair "down under", under the arms, legs and arms etc. instead? Then it would be a blessing rather than a curse. Perhaps they are the antithesis to a man's wig? A wig is intended to cover up a flaw and is supposed to blend in with your natural appearance and go unnoticed, while a crown is meant to stand out and to accentuate your strengths.
