You see, I don't know about that for sure yet... Hairline might've improved a little, but it has gotten far more diffuse on top and in the front. Besides, the hairs at the hairline are very short and thin, so I don't know anything yet. I think it might actually be worse than before.

EDIT: Btw, I've turned 20 5 and a half months ago. Would be nice if that could be changed in the topic title.

New pics. First 2 are pics of wet hair (used a towel a few times though so not completely wet). Seeing more hairloss lately, but been having awesome hair days, as well as pretty damn terrible ones.

Also, I'm rather frustrated with the little stripe of no hair in between the front.

I'm still really confused wether I have regrowth or wether I am shedding or not. Hope people here can give some insights.

Pics of my top. Looking like a NW5 pattern thinning. Awesome... Just what I need. Thought Dutasteride could only make the hairline shed, apperantly not it seems. Not that the hairline is better anyway...

Yet another picture. Nobody posts here anyway but yeah... This time it's taken with a real camera, instead of the crappy camera of a old mobile (will be taking pics with that one in later 'updates' though).

Re: Deadlock's Story - (19/ hair problems w/PICS)

Small update, hairline seems to be improving little by little. Added Miconazol cream to my regime a few days back, hopefully it'll thicken the front up. The top is looking worse than ever though. Very, thin. Could be a minoxidil shed, cause I've only began using minoxidil on top like 5 or 6 months ago.

Still shedding though. Lose more hairs during the day than before. Though not a whole lot of them are healthy / long hairs. Most are blonde, really thin, or short hairs (short ones are sometimes black and thick though, worries me). But few days ago, while styling the hair I pulled some long thick ones out as well.

Hoping this shedding will stop soon though.

Keep up the good work, hopefully you'll beat it and stop the recession, never know how our genes tell our body to react to this stuff. Sometimes great, sometimes its a struggle.

Yeah well I think it's a struggle to me. Am now pretty much at baseline point from when I started this regime, and am shedding more than before. I'm so far trying to keep cool about it, wearing a hat more often but I'm actually very worried. Dutasteride has some pretty bad horror stories on the internet as well... Hopefully it'll become better.

Situation at this moment. Picture taken just a few minutes ago.

Btw, I'd still like to add that I'm 20, not 19. Using Duta now for 6 months, this'll be my 7th. And 5% Minoxidil since May 2010 which makes about 9 months. Also using Miconazol on the hairline, and Ketaconazol as a shampoo. Mic. for less than a month, Ket. I'm using for about 4,5 months I think.

New pics. Shedding decreased since last month approx. Have discontinued Ketaconazol shampoo for a few months, but will jump back on it soon.

Been experiencing thinning mostly in the area behind the hairline (drew a few lines where it's thinning most, but in my last update it's more obvious dunno if it's worse though). The next picture reflects that the best. On top it's also thinner than the months before the shedding, but so far it's not been noticable for others. Sides and back are also a little thinner than before.

Also don't be mislead by the topic title, I'm almost 21 as by now (4 months).

Damn, so many views yet no body EVER posts here?

It's rather frustrating you know, updating every time but not getting feedback. :\ I'm unsure about my situation, and would like some other's opinion on how I am progressing, nothing more.

Hey Deadlocks, i think your hair is looking good man! Thank you for your time and effort into making this thread. Helps the lurkers come out eventually...

Ive recently just joined the board. What's that dundaseride your talking about? same as finasteride? Are you still taking that? How are you rating your own progress?

Re: Deadlock's Story - (19/ hair problems w/PICS)

Hey hairflow, thanks for your reply. It's the first one in a while.

Yes, I'm still taking Dutasteride (daily), brand name is Avodart. And yes, it's the same as finasteride in a way, as it also blocks the DHT in the body, but it's much stronger than finasteride (which blocks about 70% of DHT, Dutasteride blocks about 99%- or so I've read).

How I'd rate my progress... well, it seems to stay stable. Been through a big shedding last few months (still shedding actually, but not as much), which could either be a good, or a bad sign. As you can see, there are also short hairs sprouting around the hairline, which seems like a good sign- but there's also thinning in the area behind it... So in all actuality I'm just as unsure about the situation as before...

Could easily go either way from where I stand now. Could regrow an awesome head of hair which I always had till around 19, or could grow completely bald. :dunno: I have both awesome hair days, and completely terrible ones so I guess I'll just have to wait and see...

Not yet, hoping for it to happen eventually. *knock on wood*

I'd also like to mention, the hair hasn't been cut ever since I started taking these pics.

i think your hair has held up...thats a victory in itself..but i also can see regrowth along the hairline. you def have more of a fringe along the sides of the hairline now.

Yes, the front has improved a little, but what meaning does that have if the top (especially) has thinned more? Besides, even though I've regrown some frontal hair, I've lost some around there to.

Though in May I'll 'celebrate' my 1 year aniversary of applying 5% Minoxidil as well as the 8th month of Dutasteride. I also need to keep reminding myself of picking up another bottle of Ket. shampoo... As it's not a part of the Big 3 for nothing of coarse.

Re: Deadlock's Story - (19/ hair problems w/PICS)

Update; hair is actually STILL shedding. But this time, lots and lots of long hairs are lost. Also I have a lot of inflammation going on at the top and the crown is very itchy, but the hairline seems stable for now. Or at least, I'm now less focused on it than before.

Feeling quite terrible now. Weather is great, but can't go outside cause of my hair. Here's a pic of the top. Doesn't really do the thinning justice, cause when I made a picture from it with a flash, it was much worse.. But the fact that it's this visible with long hair really, really worries me.

As now you can actually see bald patches through the hair (especially when it's wet) comming from the top... Makes me think my hairloss was a lot more aggressive than I thought it was in the first place.

Dunno if it's still from the shedding or anything. Would've thought Dutasteride would've prevented it from becomming this bad. Or could it be from bad dieting, or smoking? Stress? I live a quite unstable life so to say, so I wonder if it's male pattern baldness alone...
