In the past few years it's really hitting me how little buying stuff means to me now.

At least I have a normal social life and somewhat romantic life (or at least have the comfort or knowing the option is there) so I mean f***, left to my own devices for too long I'd be an absolute mess.

I mainly buy books that I never read.

When i was younger i was afraid to be left to my own devices because i figured i'd succumb to the desire to lay around watching TV (or Netflix nowadays) eating junk food and drinking beer. My younger self was 100% correct, i have been left to my own devices for too long and my personal life is a mess, though my professional life is quite solid and that balances me out a bit. But damn, i've got no f*****g self discipline, it's just a chaos of non-stop self-indulgence.

How did you go about building a solid professional life if you don't have self discipline?
Asking for a friend. True story.

For me, it's like mental masturbation, a reward for planning to read the books and thinking about the knowledge gained (without actually reading the books).

Have any of you guys gone shopping on Black Friday? I've avoided it forever.

They broadcast those kind of US footages every year on french national tv news, just for the lolz
Meanwhile, we are still seen as peasants with baguettes and berets, or in riots/civil war with migrants

Gotta love 'cliche'

Nah, I'll pay extra to avoid the crowd and lines. My brother went last night, I just stayed in and continue drinking. I find it sad and ridiculous people trample, fight, and in some instances people have been killed all over these deals. Ironically after the day we celebrate being thankful lol. Gotta love America.

i can't imagine working a job that i have no passion for, that would be horrible. Do you have any hobbies/passions that you indulge in that you can turn into a career?

Yo dude did you ever buy cryptos? I think you posted a thread about it a while back and bitcoin is up like 400% since then

Own some bitcoin worth about 200. Just bought 100 in iota coin also.

Always regret not buying bitcoin years ago when it was much lower, in fact at the time it would have been feasible for me to mine it (had a great pc). Was just to lazy.

Still potentially a lot of gains left, you need more in it than you used to to make a fortune but it’s still possible. I have 150k in my dads company money in crypto and I cracked 70k today and been buying lately. Still 10x gains in the next 3 years before the demand runs out of steam I think. Already getting close to quadrupling initial investment.

I reckon it's all about cashing out before a huge crash. Have no idea when that will be though.

Institutional money getting involved, number of users increasing about 15% per month, also there is similar to a square relationship in price of bitcoin and the number of users on bitcoin reddit which I check regularly and it’s a good signal of hardcore community exposure.

Various projects rolling out network features, achieving scaling and speed goals and more usecases arising feeding back into more people buying. 2018 is going to be huge, I’m seeing potentially 10x gains if we get the same increase in the user base plus various hedge funds in crypto ariving plus etfs and the futures working smoothly. Then maybe a slow down after that. Compared to other asset classes it can feasibly get to the 5 trillion mark in the short term with its intrinsic utility and is only about 270b right now.
