Finasteride reportedly induces gyno in 1% of those who take it. So, conundrum, if you are in that unlucky 1%, go out, purchase an underwire bra and sport them titties proud son.

Great news guys, finally Dutasteride is to be put on market, called Avodart in the States and Avolve in Europe. It'll be out and about in Jan 2003. :D

It's great news, no doubt...however, are you going to start taking the drug, unapproved for hair loss, immediately when it comes out? I would imagine most of us will be waiting to hear on the side effects and results. Most of our doctors will probably want to hold on prescribing Duta for us until there are some post-marketing studies done, anyhow. At least that's why my doctor told me.

I would say a realistic date for actually starting to take AvoDart with reasonable assurance would be June 2003. What do you guys think?

I'm not really sure. I think a better estimate would be December 2002. Wouldn't you agree, Troy? Are you going to personally be taking Duta anytime soon? Or are you going to wait?

I know it has already been discussed, but what´s the consensus (or thoughts) about Duta´s power in thickening the temple hairs miniaturized for the last 3 years? Any idea?

Thanks a lot. Sorry for any english mistake.

That is really to be determined. Propecia has not shown to help much in the battle against frontal hair loss. Futhermore, the temple area is usually the hardest area for any treatment to work effectively on. It is doubtful that Dutasteride will have any huge positive impact on anyone's temple area; however, combined with topicals it may make it that much easier to improve.

this is ALL speculation guys.. noone knows what it's gonna do..

I believe it'll stop any frontal loss you have.. it's very likely to at least

My Derm is on Propecia and Rogaine and his personal opinion is that it will be only 10% more effective overall than finasteride.I did not ask him to explain how he came to that number.

Thanks.

You´re right, duta´s efficacy on regrowing hairs is the Big Doubt. I think we will only know while using it with Minoxidil. But i insist on my last question: what can we expect in terms of thickening? I mean, is there any evidence that Avodart will turn thinned hairs (loosen for the last 3 years) into thicker, stronger and more pigmented hairs?
If you guys have discussed this before, sorry. I´m new here.

Thanks again,

Paulo

paulo,

finasteride alone thickens hair.. proven clinically.. so why wouldn't dutasteride?

conundrum,

your derm is a retard (like most derms) and they just love to pull facts and figures out of their asses.. I honestly could probably go and study a few derm books for a few months.. open up my own office and give much better advice and treatment than these jackass are providing. Too bad I'd be thrown in jail after a few weeks =(.
