So, aside from all the other spam in this thread, has anybody else been trying this out at home? What’s your experience so far? I’ve been trying it, and I’ve never seen my needles covered with so much pink scalp residue before. It’s pretty brutal, but not as bad as 1.5-2.0mm. I’ve seen a few new vellus hairs, but nothing to brag about so far. Just curious how everyone else’s experience/results have been.

Been doing it with the original derminator @.5MM fastest speed with a shaved head. It's very unpleasant.....once every 2 weeks is do-able though. Hopefully will start to see some results in a few months.

I started this soon as this thread was started im only 2 sessions into this and i imagine you probably need 6 sessions at least to see anything and 12 to know it don't work, with the old routine my cartridge would have the odd white flake on the needles to clean with this protocol it looks like i dipped it in strawberry milk shake

Assuming you get the depth and frequency right and there’s nothing else we don’t know about... in 6 weeks you’ll know whether your attempt to recreate their precise protocol worked. I think that’s true for all of us.

You can answer that by comparing the results of microneedling + minoxidil to the results of oral minoxidil. I think it's safe to say m+m > om

And what do you think about about oral minoxidil + microneedling combo?

its bi weekly so 6 weeks would be 2 sessions as 3rd would happen on 6th week which is next week for me lol so i hope your wrong pretty sure all treatments show no results till 12th to 24th week pretty sure number guy who started this craze saw nothing till week 8 to 12.
I Think its wish full thinking on my part but my hair seems to be growing faster and my center parting at he mid scalp seems denser probably just COPE as that guy would say

No, i actually use my head the correct way ;) One size doesn't always fit all, maybe one day you'll stop being a sheep and understand.

why 0.5mm and not 0.75mm or 1mm?

I find the derminator 1's needle settings jump around like crazy when you look at their screen. So the .5MM "setting" usually ends up being .75 or even 1MM. Maybe that depends on how hard you push as well, but the fact is after the session i have the same sunburn erythemic appearance and some minor bleeding -- so its enough.

This happens on the Dr. Pen N2 as well. Set it to 1.5mm and start my session, it’ll gradually start lowering to 1.0mm. When doing the follica patent I usually go at 1.0mm, but the depth ends up increasing to 1.25mm< the longer I go.

Idk how dermneedling actually helps hair. I’ve been doing it for just about a month and a half. Once a week at 1.5mm and not only does that sh*t HURT, but my right hairline got worse EXACTLY where I focus the most for it’s recession. I use the dr pen ultima a6.

Yes, based on what we know at the moment. .75-1mm.

Yeah, but do your needles go as deep as your setting? The needling would be best done by another person, because I find it very difficult to apply enough pressure on my own with my Derminator2. I did 1mm at the fastest setting (with grade 0 cut hair) and there wasn't even any redness 24 hours later.

Sure pal. You just keep doing what is not suggested. The proof of the pudding is in the eating (your results if you have any).

I choose scientific rigour and advice over a sore head.

You are not supposed to apply pressure, you are supposed to glide it over your scalp. If the cartridge is just touching your scalp then it will go in precisely at the setting. If you are applying too much pressure or not enough you will see that with the top arrow on the D2.

Why do you think there needs to be redness 24 hours later?

Do you think there doesn’t / it doesn’t matter?

Guess we’ll find out from Follica eventually :p

I read the manual, I know how it's supposed to be used, circular movement. The manual said something about applying a bit of pressure. Why do I think there needs to be redness 24 hours later? Because from what I've read other people using Dermaroller2, they have to hide the redness and wear hats for several DAYS. Whereas my redness only last for a couple of hours. (Also many people have said they see some blood, which I find really hard to believe unless they use a deeper setting than 1mm.)

No,
If the arrows on the display align then you are going to the correct depth. If you're using a 12 needle cartridge and needling for 15-30 minutes then I don't know what to tell you. If you are then I find it hard to believe the redness is gone after a couple hours unless you are talking beet red. I heal very quickly, and I still have significant, though much relieved, redness 12 hours later using a d2 on fast, for 30 minutes at 1mm. I don't get much blood. I can see a few pin point spots when I take a picture of my crown afterwards, but nothing on the needles.

12-needle cart, 10cmx10cm, with the fastest setting. After 30 seconds the timer told me I'm done. Maybe the timer isn't meant for use with hair.

No, it's not. The timer is set for optimal density to aid in collagen regeneration. You have to wound much more densely for hair, between 1400-1800 needle strikes/cm². So around 9 minutes for a 10x10 area which would be a very tiny head.
