I saw this video on another hair loss site. Definitely sums up what goes thru my mind everyday. I think its just another way of explaining how a person thinks with BDD. In my case, it was always physique, legs, skin and later in life hair.

I probably will watch the rest but first 30 seconds made me almost puke down on my phone.

I'm getting a missing tile on top of my head and it's about the size of a tile, but the rest of my qualities aren't the size of a room.

Thats why people need to get hair transplants, hair systems, or use concealers but the missing "tile" will never be perfectly matched in most cases.

Well I agree with this but that is definitely not the point of the video, this is conflicting.

I did watch the rest and it just got worse.

-says that a bald guy walks into a room and all he sees his hair, doesn't acknowledge that when you see a bald guy in a room you notice hair and a bald guy
-equates people with genuinely insane BDD like leg shape and f***, pregnancy issues, as the same as caring about your hair
-goes into his slayer past as a full head in a clearly made up conversation with his Rabbi and rifles through all these chicks pretending each one has a missing personality trait so he can continue banging even more
-ends message by downplaying our missing tile as irrelevant and only existent if we stare at it

Well at least if there was any possible non-cope to this video then we could stop staring at it, but it won't stop others!

In that dating scenario when the girl calls up her friend and goes:

"You know what... I've found that one missing trait in guys!"
"Well OK... Wait is it?"
"Hair!"
"Duh. That's just a starting point."

I had a feeling most would interpret the dating example and change it to hair as the missing tile. I know the video was not about "fixing the missing tile" but that is what we tend to do when we can't focus on the other tiles. And the problems is if we fix one tile and another tile goes missing, we keep trying to fix it. Michael Jackson devoted his life to trying to fix all his missing tiles but unfortunately it killed him in the process.

No way I take credit for that. "Most people" haven't said sh*t.

But sorry if I'm jumping all over this video I just disagree with every sentiment of it, even take away my sensitivity baldness and it's so bland that I'm wondering how this guy's a doctor with "innovative" ideas.

Even the guys with BDD here like, let's take an obvious example of Baldhurts, he only ever complained about baldness, that was it, nothing else he could find in himself he wanted to fix.

Now he was aesthetically gifted but even take the average looking guys who went bald and are below average, they just want to be average again. Not 6'3 Brad Depp, just miss their hair, that's all.

If this has applied to you then that's you're relating to it with other focusses your BDD has led you to, but for most people this just isn't BDD, f*** even those with BDD, it's still not BDD when it comes to their hair!

Because the hair is a reasonable issue to care about ruining your identity for almost everyone, not having chicken calves.

BDD is obsessing thinking about a body part. Hair is what you obsess about. When you are losing it, you obsess about the loss of hair. Yes, for some, its a minor flaw for others its a big flaw when you are over a NW3. If you obsess about hair loss to the point you don't leave your house, that would be a form of BDD. BDD is really a vague term but its obsessive thinking and a form of OCD. OCD is obsessing thinking in general where BDD is when you obsess about one of your body parts. If a guys thinks his penis is not average he will obsess about it. The video was not all about BDD because some people's missing tile might be intelligence. The point of the video was just how people think in general. We tend to focus on the bad more than the good. I remember once hearing the phrase our minds are like velcro for negative thoughts but like teflon for positive thoughts.

People don't leave the house because they go insane, but just from hair loss? And also the result of getting lectured by the Dr Prager's of this world, likening a serious aesthetic regression to women being jealous of slightly more toned calves.

Like I always say the devastating impact aesthetically is only half the battle, societies lack of understanding and mocking is the half that truly fucks people up. It's most evident how young guys suffer the worst with regards to going outside or being social (Fred, Xander) it's not just the loss of youth aesthetically it's the social isolation they feel from having nobody going through what they are or understanding it. For older guys like you and me we at least have other comparisons within touching distance, so we don't go nuts enough to not function.

If you want to read more into it than what this very simplistic video put forth (which is, nothing about extremes like clinging indoors, just vague feelings socially) then sure but, it's a pretty awful source to take inspiration, knowledge or true realisation from.

The video makes sense, but come one: not having nice legs = not being able to get pregnant = being NW6 in your 20's?

You always notice what you're missing, but sometimes, what you're missing is crucial.

Our hair is pretty much our identity, once you lose it, you join the other bald clones.

It's not on the same level as being overweight, or having a big nose, or wrinkles, or greying.

The closest would be severe acne but even that's temporary.

Once you're bald, it becomes your main feature. "Polar Bear? Oh yeah he's the bald guy!"

Talk about focusing one one "tiny detail" of your appearance.
Bear, there is not doubt about it. Baldness for men is the worst case scenario when you are young. I did not post the video with the sole purpose of hair loss. Its was just to demonstrate how some people think. I am one of those people and whoever watches the video and can relate then relate. If not, then don't relate. The point of the video was to make a choice on how you focus on things. Unfortunately, my brain focuses on flaws and not just mine but everyone else. I have learned to suppress it, but not all the time.

all of us can think if our features or body were improved we would look better but we don't obsess about it...I guess this is why BDD is a mental disease or maybe OCD of some kind I really don't know.

But hair loss? hair loss is obsessive for everyone.

It would be equivalent to me of going through a window of a car and severely scarring face.

that is hair loss to me.

of course some men still look good with it and it does not phase them--but for the rest of us all women, young men its like getting facial scars.
