My mother tongue is French, but we have to speak both if we want to get a job.

We actually have three cultures in Belgium: Flanders, Wallonia, and Brussels.

It's kind of a mess, describing all the subtleties would take me the whole night :p.
Wow, and all us brits have is the Welsh but we hardly notice them because they have their own little corner far away from the rest of it.

The only reason I mentioned it is because there may be different dating norms depending on the language and the cultural norms.

Just out of curiosity - would a migrant moving to Belgium start learning French or flemmish? Is one more popular than the other?

Flemish for sure, they all do that. You can do almost any job (if you have the qualifications) speaking good Dutch and basic French.

The reverse never happens on the other hand. The money is on the North (Flemish) side of the country, so they have all the power.
Are you from the French parts like Liege?

Also, do you have a preference between dutch or French women?

I'm neither from the Flemish part, nor from the French part. I'm from Brussels, which is overwhelmingly French while it's located in Flanders.

It's a special case, Flemish people want to cling to Brussels, they keep repeating that it's Flemish depiste 95% of its population speaking French.

Dutch women are just better, more traditional. It's no wonder my ex and my current girlfriend are Flemish. They just make better girlfriends.

Girls from Wallonia are particularly good for a one night stand, and quite easy too. But they're not very bright in general, and they can be bitchy.

Other than that, since I'm living in Brussels, I've been with a lot of expats too: American, Argentinian, Colombian, Polish women, etc.
Well done for missing British girls.

For me, I struggle with American women. They tend to be quite mouthy and quick to attack when they don't get their own way.

When I worked in tourism in Italy the Americans could be so entitled - but I think that's part of the culture.

Us Brits just get on with things - and if we do complain we do it quietly and under our breath.
