A variety of things can happen. Seasonal sheds, subjects who think they are taking placebo might start taking other treatments if they observe no results etc. Though 9.43 is still rather high yeah.

It's most likely that placebo is high because people are on minoxidil and finasteride. I wouldn't stop other treatments even if I wasn't in the placebo group.
Surely it's a controlled trial?? How can you test a hairloss drug if the subjects are taking other hairloss drugs??
