My hair loss isn't bad yet and no one I know thinks that I have hair loss. I left it for 2 years since first noticing it at 19 and it took that long to see a change (more thinning), then I got on finasteride. I also have family history of severe hair loss young on my mothers side.
My family history is pretty solid, father has full enough head of hair for 58 and my mother's father at 84 has enough to cover his head, albeit thin but he is quite old: my two of my mother's cousins are bald but thats pretty distant from me at that point

Actually going to a derm the first week of August for laser hair REMOVAL on my neck for pseudofolliculitis barbae lol, so I guess I can ask when I'm there. How can they determine whether or not it's hair loss? Also can I see what yours looks like?

I think they have some sort of camera that checks for miniaturized hairs, most of the time they can just tell by looking at your hair though.
I wonder though, I mean my hairline was always uneven with a higher right side, it hasnt really lost its shape just gone back further. Embarrassing picture, but this is me at 11, with my Dad actually in it for comparison's sake

Your dads got a little hair loss in that pic but doesn't look aggressive, your hair is probably following his pattern. Doubt you will ever go fully bald.
I appreciate it, but I always assumed I would never begin balding bc of how thick and full my hair was. Do you think it's likely I am in fact balding?

The same with me, I thought I would never go bald because my dad and all the men on his side no hair loss but it came from my mothers side. At the moment it's hard to tell because your hair doesn't look bad at all, but you said you have good family history in terms of hair loss so I don't think you will lose a significant amount of hair, probably just a little from the temples like the majority of guys.
I hope you're right, and that it is just "maturing" as they say. I guess it isn't just in my head though based on what you guys are saying. Does one of my sides look worse than the other?
