September update... trying not to obsess but it's very hard. Everyone I talk to about it that I know says that I am crazy and it is normal/maturing. My friend who is very severely balding and has been on minoxidil/finasteride combo for a few years doesn't think it's balding, he thinks mature not balding. Love to hear more opinions, always have loved my hair and it's very worrying to me, left side in particular...
The only difference between a mature hairline and someone who’s gonna bald, is if it keeps going or not. Could be either. Looks like a maturing hairline. If there’s no thinning, it’ll probably stop around there for the next 10 years. But who knows. I wouldn’t look at it for 6 months, and If it gets worse or you notice thinning you can take finasteride. Don’t worry about sides, most don’t get them. I’ve been on it for 2.5 years and have zero sides, and I kept a Norwood 1.5 (I was in the same boat as u, but mine started thinning a bit too). I forget I’m even taking finasteride that’s how little difference I notice on it in terms of how I feel and sex drive. I can still have sex 3 times in a day if I want to. I only say this bc people bug over sides for no reason

I'd say nw2, you really should've started taking finasteride at the first signs a few years ago at nw1-1.5. it's definitely matured, but hasn't progressed to the point to balding and may never. But being proactive is always better then trying to recover. Best of luck.

This is my father and I when I was 17, about 7 years ago this fall. Idk if this helps provide more information

Wow ok, definitely something to consider then. I have always been fearful of the side effects. Do you think I'm still a Norwood 1.5 like you are, or do you agree with the above posters who say Norwood 2?

I'm a nw1, this my hair currently but short. I got on finasteride for prevention. But I'd say your nw2 maybe 2.5. side affects are none. I have a healthy one year old boy too. No differences. Been on 1 and a half years.

Yeah I agree you have good density but you are nw2 territory. Probably will stop there. I didn't want to lose my juvenile hairline lol. I'm ocd about my hair.

Probably not. Judging from your dad's hair....you will probably stay there. But you never know.

This is a screenshot of my grandfather's (mother's father's) hair when he was 80, idk if this helps at all. Him and I have very different hair however, mine is more similar to my dad's in texture and shape. Your hair looks very great btw, iron hairline. Before you started taking finasteride did you have any noticeable hairloss? If not it doesn't look like you needed it

At 80 that's a solid hairline. You'll be ok. My family history was trash and I got ocd, decided to be pro active. Thought I noticed shedding but could've always had that as I never paid attention.

This is me in Amsterdam at 18 lol, I've always been a*** about having this lowcut straight hairline. When I grew it out for the first time when I noticed the shedding. Second pic is grown out. Now I just keep it short like in that jersey pic.

Wow that is rock solid even before the finasteride. Looks great, you have good genetics.

Awesome phew. You think still worth it to hop on finasteride? Or I'll be alright?

I think you should go see a dermatologist first. Have you been evaluated? Also it couldn't hurt to jump on for prevention, you could possibly get some regrowth too which would be a bonus... Atleast you'll get peace of mind, knowing your doing something. It's definitely took ALOT of stress off my back since.
