Honestly, just inner peace.

I don't think this is possible for most people, there's never going to be a contentedness that is eternal. Our human instincts want disruption, we want up's and down's, we want challenges and disruptions to our happiness in order to feel happiness at some point, albeit briefly.

I guess it's about not flying off the rails (like I feel I'm doing lately) and engaging so much in the darker side of our feelings and cynicism.

But "inner peace" to me is equivalent to being brain dead. You won't get to that stage buck, the idea of a Utopia is against our natural instincts, we crave things that challenge us, and adventure.

True, you can get to that stage but if you're not aware that you're kidding yourself when you reach it, and it could be very damaging to your life. Thinking that "that's it!, now it's going to be sunshine and rainbows for the rest of my life, I made it! nothing could stand in the way of my happiness now!"

I was there for a moment yesterday as I was falling asleep, "inner peace" after having one of those great days: seeing my girlfriend, having sex, watching a great movie with her, visiting my great-grandmother and almost everything seeming to come together.

So while I was overwhelmed by this feeling of contentment, even happiness you could say, I could still perceive this potential brooding chaos far off in the background, I think, and even though it didn't change the way I was feeling, I knew I'd always have to pay attention to it if I want to have more moments like these.

Every time I feel happy, it's because I've overcome a challenge that wasn't so easy, because if it was easy, you just wouldn't get that physiological reward. You can't fool yourself into feeling happy, you have to overcome something truly difficult in order to feel temporary inner peace.

And even when it's done, you can enjoy the feeling for a couple of hours but then you should immediately ask yourself what is it that you now have to attend to, otherwise that inner peace could turn into existential angst so fast that it would make your head spin.

I think it is crucial to understand, that you'll never reach a state of eternal bliss to paraphrase what you said. I think you also mention Jordan Peterson's clip where he was talking about an author (the name escapes me) who criticized the idea of a utopia.

It was something like: the day a human gets his life perfectly in order (or so he thinks) and he has no problems anymore, the first thing he's going to do is smash something to create chaos so that something interesting would be happening.

Peterson is putting in to words a lot of my sentiments and yesterday I went back searching for them on this forum.

"Inner peace" is to each his own definition. For myself, inner peace is simply being able to be content and happy with who I am and living a life with minimal stress, especially when it comes to the ego.

You're broken (not surprising given your struggles).

I gather inner peace can be achieved through meditation.

honestlly social normie existence i don't care for, i just need those things (gf, being considered high status) to be able to find happiness on my own. like even if i became dolph lundgren 10/10 genius IQ i would have the most fun just walking around and letting the narcissistic joy flow through me haha. i mean at the end of the day its all about how you feel anyways

There has been some debate about whether monogamy/marriage is the right way forward
for our society, and to add some scientific spice to this I want to share a study
on the biological aspect of this, and the (potential) consequences it may have.

http://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1111/ele.12373/full

Obviously, this cannot be translated to humans(yet) but I think it raises a few questions
about our newly developed beloved hedonistic pathway. Interestingly, Aristoteles
suggested telegony some 2500 ys ago...and we do actually apply this when breeding
animals, but arrogantly discard this when it comes to ourselves...

A practical question: Would you raise a child that IS NOT biologically entirely yours?
...or is that beta AF? :)

Imo, also: new wave of feminism is, for the first time, starting to show it's negative effects
on the western biological gene pool which I will come back to later...

@OP

And this is why patriarchy is the ultimate model. Somebody has to suffer, either civilization or society. And I'd rather ( even if I was a woman ) take the hit and pairbond in monogamy than be part of a harem of some quasi Chad.
Women are biological nazis. They are super selective of the genes they don't like and would let them perish in flames instantly if they could. They en masse do not care about culture, civilization, nor their brethren. Their genes only dictate that they find a best mate at that time, and if new one comes, older one dies.

If matriarchy ruled as it does in Africa, we would be still be chasing rats. Female biological drive needs to be directed or we are all doomed.
