Here’s a quick wet (damp) hair update. 20 months on finasteride. It seems worse than baseline in my opinion, but can those of you that’ve been with me since the beginning let me know what you think? I have other wet photos earlier in this thread.

Thanks!

It looks completely fine because of the long hair. I'm going for the same length because I have a similar bald spot.

It looks like you are maintaining.

Yeah, I believe that longer hair definitely hides thinning. When my hair is dry it looks pretty good.

I think this works best with straight hair though. Curly hair is troublesome when it starts to thin.

It's why I want long hair, my bald spot is a bit bigger than yours so I don't know if it will look OK or just stupid. Let's wait and see.

If you have straight hair, I recommend combing it back if your hairline is strong. It covers up my thinning A LOT better than when I was combing it forward

Thought about adding min or microneedling to try and recover some density. I’m a diffuser like you and am on finasteride and oral min.

Are you saying I should think about adding it in? I don’t want to add in another daily chore if this one is still working. It’s tough to say if I’m continuing to lose or not

Well, it does right up the point when it doesn’t. Once your density hits a certain point long hair looks like ***. At that point, the weight of length and a propensity to tangle will make you look worse than you actually are.

Alright boys here’s an update.

Finasteride for 27 months.

Damn does time fly by.

Pic 1: Dry hairline. I style my hair differently (parted to the other side) than I did in my more earlier posts so this is what it looks like. I think it *may* have gotten slightly worse in the 27 months but I’m not quite sure. This is after a day of exercising and sweating so it’s not in the best shape lol

Pic 2: How I style my hair when it’s perfect

Pic 3-4: What it looks like if a strong gust of wind fucks it up or if I get up from laying down. When I feel this is happening, one swoop with my hand and I fix it to Pic 2.

Pic 5-6: What it looks like on top. Diffuse thinning but toppik does a good job and I don’t think it’s that bad.

Pics 7-11: This is me combing my hair to how I used to in earlier pics for a good comparison to earlier pics.

CAN YOU GUYS PLEASE GO THROUGH SOME OF MY EARLIER PICS AND TELL IF IM MAINTAINING OR GETTING WORSE???

It’s difficult for me to judge accurately (BDD) but I feel it’s gotten a bit worse. It might have not though. Keep in mind this is 27 months on finasteride so if it looks about the same I’ll take that.

Thoughts on how long I can maintain a decent head of hair?

Thanks guys

Looks good with that hairlength and your hair is looking shiny and healthy, imo wouldn't look like you're balding to normies even w/o toppik, just looks like thin hair like many north european guys have. I don't think it worsened, maybe a bit better/same.

Thanks for that response. As always, I think it looks a bit worse in person than photos. Photos don’t capture that thin look you get when you look in different angles. But that’s about as bad of a photo I can get so I appreciate that.

Yea I know, that's just what I got from the picture. I also have diffuse thinning. It's the worse because depending on what shampoo you use, the way you blowdry your hair, the temperature and humidity outside, your hair can look thick and healthy and the day after flat, frizzy and dead. Although, from the front angle, that swoop makes it unnoticeable for any normie, and considering how tall you are, most people will be shorter than you and not see the thin sections (if that's any help haha)

Thanks man and you’re right about shampoos and different conditions changing hair quality. Some of my older photos my hair looks like a pure rats nest and it was unmanageable. That’s when I shampoo’d daily (my whole life I did this). If I went one day without shampooing my hair would be so greasy. Someone here told me that he doesn’t shampoo often and it keeps his hair looking and feeling thicker. I started doing that and now my hair looks and feels a lot better. I rarely shampoo but my hair doesn’t get greasy or anything anymore. That’s a HUGE key for us diffusers.

And the height helps when I’m standing in the wind lol. But I always feel a bit anxious when sitting. I feel for my short bros that are losing the roof.

Here’s a wet comparison photo. Left taken recently and right being two years ago. I think there has definitely been some slight loss but at the same time, in two years I think it’s a tolerable rate.

You’re lucky man. Great hair good maintenance.
Much appreciated. The pics don’t tell the whole story tho. Today I opened my camera for Snapchat and saw a huge gap of skin near my mid scalp. If my hair isn’t positioned right I can definitely see through it more than most people my age.

Maybe I’ll post some pics of what I mean, maybe it’s not as bad as I think.

As someone with very similar hair characteristics and story yet more recessed hairline, you are lucky man.

your hairline is at a point where it still connects to the side of your head so you have no styling issues. I wish I could say the same to be honest. That’s the only thing I want fixed. given it hasnt changed in 27 months, I really don’t think you’ll lose much of any hair within the next 5 years. Id be so happy to be in your shoes.

The scalp you see when your hair is greasy/ not positioned right could be due to less density than native but trust its not that bad. Its 99% the BDD kicking in.

I also shampoo’d everyday of my life, big regret. Hair looks way better when shampoo’d, and looks like a rats nest after a day of oil consumption.

Thanks bro, I appreciate that. Dude bite the bullet and don’t wash your hair for a week. I think that’s all it took for my hair to not get greasy. But I remember the same thing, one day of no shampoo it was an absolute grease fest. Now I very rarely shampoo my hair, and it looks and feels healthier than when I shampoo’d daily.

Also I think I’ve seen a post with your hair, I thought you were better off then me so maybe you have some BDD too. If I remember correctly, very little thinning and I barely saw any recession.

EDIT: Here’s what I was talking about with scalp showing through. It’s hard to capture it on camera, it looks a bit worse in person. Could he BDD though, not sure if people recognize this as thinning. Btw remember what it was like not thinking about hair loss? I swear I’d see a nw4 and not realize he’s balding. Now I can tell someone’s balding years before they probably even notice lol

Yea that’s nothing that’s considered thinning man. Its just fine hair with oils in it clumping up such that u can see more scalp. A shampoo day fixes it all lol. And theres no way I cant shower for a week, lol. My sh*t is unbearable with oil after 1 day, I atleast need conditioner every 2 days.
