My Finasteride Update, 22 Y/o (pics)

I’m going to bump this thread with some wet hair pics that really show the situation. Looking for some thoughts and also as a way to track my progress for the future. This is what it looks like when I get directly out of the shower. Then a few pics of it wet combed. When I get out the shower and see this much scalp it scares the sh*t out of me and throws me into an obsession loop for a while. I legit feel like I’ve lost over 50% of my density

At the same time it’s really hard to tell if I’m worse off then I was last year. I think my hairline has lost a bit and my density has also gone down but I’m really not sure.

Am I still nw2?

Thanks guys, one thing this forum taught me is we all have some BDD regarding our hair. When I see this, I think I’m half way scalped lol.

Okay guys, I found some 2 year old pics of my hair parted and I tried to capture the same photos now. I think this is definitive proof my hair has gotten significantly worse. f*** I’m absolutely freaking out. They are two different bathrooms, but the lighting is about the same. I’m trying to come up with excuses why it looks a lot worse to me now (maybe the lighting is harsher in this new bathroom), but the conditions are practically the same.

I can live with how my hair is now, a little toppik covers the thinning and no one has really mentioned it, but I feel like I’ve lost SIGNIFICANT ground in the past 2 years. I was thinking I’d keep a decent head of hair for a long time but now my whole perspective shifting. Could I get a transplant in the future or would I just be screwing myself?

Should I get on dutasteride?

yea you’re just tweaking bro. Its just hair condition. You’re hair looks very similar. Use shampoo, and try taking the same photos your hair will look just fine.

If you want to add anything to your resume add oral minoxidil. Im actually adding it myself next week.

I took a few more and I think it does show that it’s a bit worse (I also think it’s not parted the same). But maybe you’re right to a degree..

How are you getting oral minoxidil? I wanted to try it but I’m worried about the side effects, it could be pretty dangerous

As far as I have understood in the last few years, with the help of my derma is that oral minoxidil at low dose (less than 5mg) is safe. She says that topical minoxidil also goes systematic at 3-5% of 50 mg or 100 mg depending on your frequency, which increases when you dermaroll. Hence, oral is preferred by many because of convenience.

Yea, I actually got a consultation with a pretty renowned Dr. nowadays and got prescribed 1.25mg as a starting dose, no real risk of sides tbh.

I’m on on 2.5 mg now. Never had any sides

Did you notice any positive changes when you added it? Also where could u get it without a prescription? My doctor was cool enough to prescribe finasteride but I don’t know if she’ll prescribe oral minoxidil.

I hope you as well. Don't freak out too much. I'd recommend microneedling as often as possible. I notice a stop of shedding even without any minoxidil

At such low doses just tell her you’d like to add minoxidil after an extending period of maintaining on finasteride. Im sure she wouldn’t mind, 1.25-2.5mg is nothing. People with high blood pressure need 10+mg.

Looks almost the same. In some recent photos your part looks slightly wider in some areas but maybe it's just how you parted it. Overall, I would say you are maintaining which is good.

I am modifying my approach. After 2 weeks of oral, I have observed a bloating face, and a slight weight gain. I also do intermediate level of Gymnastics, and I could feel a level of stiffness that comes with change in weight. Maybe I will try to do twice oral (or whatever nights I could not apply topical due to some reasons), as with topical I never had issues with weight gain or bloating in face etc. If anybody is taking this approach then please share insights. Thank you!

It would be a good side by side.
Anyways how many years now since the first panic attacks?
My loss is slow slow slow, but my crown will always have that thin spot.
But I can deal with it.
