My female friend grow back eyebrows thanks to castor oil, she said that it make her hairs thick and stronger so I decided to read more about it.Good to hear, and have heard the same about the skin effects. I was hoping once a day would be ok for minoxidil though. But now you have me curious about casto oil. Can you please explain the idea behind it a little more?
One of the ingredients in castor oil is called ricinoleic acid and in theory it can inhibit PGD2, so I thought why not give it a try. I'm drinking small amounts of it (2-4 ml a day) and putting topical mixture to my scalp twice a day. I tried using castor oil alone but it's ultra messy so I mixed it with ethanol and maybe that is why I have possitive results. Unfortunately there is not much research about it, but it is working for me so I'm gonna stay with it, alcohol mixture is as easy to put on scalp as minoxidil. I head that people are using 70:30 castor oil/ethanol but I'm mixing it randomly, from 30:70 to 70:30.
I ordered zinc and niacin, I have read about niacin a lot of good things, so my final regimen will be castor/zinc/niacin, some study showed that it increase PGD2 level but here is a little quote from badtruthtalk why it is good thing
"There are two types of PGD2 receptors, DP1 and DP2 (DP2 is also known as 'GPR44' and 'CRTH2'). Laropiprant (Merck's drug) selectively blocks the PD1 receptor - Cotsarelis showed that the PD2 receptor (and not PD1) is involved in hair growth downregulation. BTW, niacin produces flushing via the PD1 receptor - the PD2 receptor is not involved in the flushing at all.
Niacin flushes PGD2 through the receptor that have nothing to do with hair loss, Niacin flush doesn't make make you lose hair, in fact it makes PGD2 less available to be used with the receptor that damages the hair. And knowing that lowering PGD2 it more important that raising PGE and PGf2a, i would say Niacin is a must for anyone wanting to keep hair, based on all the information now available."
Here is some info about niacin https://www.hairIossrevolution.com/4-ways-to-use-niacin-for-hair-growth/
Cheers.
