How long do you leave the solution on your head ?

How long do you keep this solution on your head before washing it off ? Does this solution make your scalp less oily ? Many thks

Just like minoxidil, you dont wash it off. I apply 20-30 mins after I shower, once my hair is near dry.

Hello there, I would like to give it a try (big thank you to worm for sharing & helping) I have looked for the complete formula but I can't find it, could you share it again? How much of the water & alcohol? I will probably just use distilled water, the alcohol seems difficult to find, would that work? Also, I had a hard time finding zinc 220 mg in Europe, impossible to have it from the states, anyone know where to order within Europe? Thanks in advance

Hi all,

Just my own thoughts on Zix - I used super Zix II about 10 years ago and and had pretty pleasing regrowth (shipping Fulton USA to UK was occasionally a pain). However the lotion stained my greying hair yellow and made me look like I was dying my crown dirty blonde.

I switched to 5% minoxidil but have recently started to lose ground. I would like to use minoxidil in the AM and zix in the pm but it seems commonly accepted that using minor and a zinc-based product negates the effect of both (unless that advice has changed??).

Anyone else using both? Anyone else had yellow staining? Anyone seen documented regrowth/un-miniaturisation?

Thanks, BB

I am happy that you guys have positive results with zix but its nearly impossible that this has any effect for s.o. with male pattern baldness. Its either placebo or the hairloss was just a bad period (lots of stress whatever).

Yes look up @JWM2 posts in this thread, he has a friend who does both with good reaults. Im tempted to try it, but am too lazy to comply with the daily routine. I use zix once daily and thats it. Id say go for it. U can use my zix version, its simpler to mix, less greasy and a more effective imo.

Update: Nearly a month trying Zix with B6.

Shedding is minimal, less than 10, previously when shampooing I would shed easily everytime running my hands through my hair.

I am not sure if it is from Zix that has reduced shedding or from adding American Crew Anti hairloss shampoo to my routine. Either way, hair feels stronger and thicker.

Routine:

Shampoo x 1 day
Zix x 1 day
Essential oils EOD

Thats exactly how it worked for me. Glad to hear its working well.

I would love to try this but I could only find zinc sulfate in powder form. Should I just use 440mg to get the same amount you do? And the package just says "zinc sulfate", is that the same as zinc sulfate heptahydrate or does that matter?

On the dosage, I think you're correct. Heptahydate, from our discussions is by far the best. I would call or email the manufacturer to see if it's heptahydate.. If it is, it should be good...

Hi @worm,

Can I use Denature Alcohol (Ethyl Alcohol 95%, Methyl Alcohol 5%) ? Maybe need more distilled water to make it 70% alcohol ?

Many thanks

To share my experience so far. First few weeks of using it I didn’t notice much of a difference, I later found out that I didn’t put enough water so maybe it was because it was over concentrated. The next 3 batches I used seemed to help a noticeable amount with shedding. I never had much of an itch but I used to shed about 50ish hairs per shower. Now with Zix and H&S shampoo I only shed between 15 and 30 hairs per shower. I haven’t noticed any difference in visual appearance of my hair but the reduced shedding is encouraging. I by no means have aggressive hair loss yet but I have been slowly receding at the temples.

Just my guess but I feel like this may only provide relief for people experiencing non-aggressive hairloss. I just can’t see this fixing a person who is destined to be bald by 25. Again just a guess.

I like that I feel like I am at least doing something to combat my problem and I’m hoping this will slow my hair loss down considerably. Seems to be doing something so far, knock on wood.

Anyways a few notes, it can look like tiny specs of dandruff, especially at the end of the bottle when the solution has a lot of zinc/b6 in it. And I found using it w/ h&s was helpful. Also it stains your pillow yellow but honestly all the negatives are pretty negligible

Thanks @worm !!

@worm,

Can we remove those residual white things at the bottom ? I guess they are filters of the zinc pills ? Many thanks :)

I am not sure, I say try without, then after a few weeks try it with this alcohol.

To be honest I use it once a day early in the day, so no staining. Maybe it's my imagination, but I like to believe the residue has a cosmetic thickening effect, so personally I like it. I would not strain it away, but I dont know for sure.

So it means I should try with zinc + B6 + distilled water and then later on, zinc + B6 + distilled water + alcohol ?

Btw, it is quite hard to find ethanol 70 here, any alternatives ? many thanks

You need B6, otherwise I dont think it will be nearly as effective. I do think it will reduce shedding a little, but it wont be as effective as zix.
