I also tried to look into it for a while but the fact that it lowers PGE2 was the reason why I decided not to go down that path.
What doesn lowering pge2 mean exactly?
Super Zix used to use Beta Sitosterol. The reason it was there, was as an anti-inflammatory. I reached a similar conclusion as you, and thought Cetirizine makes more sense, because it's a stronger anti-inflammatory, and reduces PGD2 to boot.

What Int is saying about it lowering PGE2 is news to me. The only study I'm aware of is this in vitro study
https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/7741033
And it raises PGE2(though not by much).
I tried adding Azelaic, but it didnt do anything.
I think Azelaic Acid only helps when your DHT levels spike. I don't think it helps other than that. I think Azelaic Acid has a place mostly for guys who are experiencing a heavy shed, or steroid/modafinil users. Though I also suspect Rosemary Oil is more effective and does the exact same thing.

day 3 adding ceterizine - I have to say I have had a wicked headache the past two days. I was told by my doctor a few years ago I may be more sensitive to medication because I dont break it down as quickly. Ive been feeling like crap, kidneys are painful, I appear dehydrated too - so I think I will stop today, and restart next week and see how I feel. I may dilute it to 50% concentration and see how I tolerate that, as it could be 1/2 the dose or less could be more than enough for me.

On the positive side, I had less hair in the shower drain - only about 10, which is 5-10 hairs less than normal. Also, my scalp in the mirror looked healthy (more than usual). So I am hopeful this could improve my situation, except for the headache and dehydration I seem to be experiencing. So I have to take care of my brain before my hair, and i'll be stopping until monday.

What strength are you using it at? I think 20mg is supposed to be an effective dose topically(assuming full head coverage).

Ya I keep hearing that cet lowers pge with citation that people on the “German” forum had worsening of their hair. I tracked down a giant cet megathread with google translate and didn’t see any evidence of this.... I’m not convince, I honestly think cet works as a very weak growth stimulant

Hi Everyone,

Im totally new to the hairloss forums, I have gone through some post here and there the past year or so trying some things to help with my crown balding. I am 24 years old, started losing my hair at 21 with some hairline receding at first, my hairline is still a Norwood 1 - 1.5 today but my crown has lost some ground since then. Right now I am on Nizoral shampoo EOD, Minoxidil ED, 5,000 mcg biotin, and a hair supplement pill as well. I have been doing this for the past 3 months and im seeing some results. I am thinking about adding Super Zix to the mix now. I'm not sure if this question has already been answering in the thread but can i use any form of zinc or does it have to be zinc sulfate? and if so is tablet fine to use or does it have to be a capsule? I can find all the ingredients except the zinc sulfate in capsule form. I am located in Toronto Canada also. If anyone can help with this, it will be greatly appreciated.

I am Canadian too, you can order pure encapsulations b6 p5p and zinc sulfate from plus pharma for maybe $20 a bottle. Personally i order mine to the states and pick it up at a friends house. U need zinc sulfate, and these are the best. I suggest trying my zix before super zix. U can add the super later. Super doesnt work nearly as well for me at least. I definitely recommend trying it.

okay i found on one of the other pages the link for the zinc sulfate from ebay so i ordered that and i go to healthy planet to shop for these kinds of things so i found the b6 p5p there, thank you. but I am a bit confused i thought the original zix formula was just zinc, b6, and distilled water and super zix was those 3 ingredients with the addition of ethyl alcohol, (saw palmetto & polysorbate 80, although it looks no one is added these two) but just referencing cause i did see it on Joe site. So are you looking at it as the addition of the ethyl alcohol to the other 3 ingredients as original zix still?

Also i had a few more questions
1. I know you said you modified Joe original formula by adding more zinc but how long were you on his original formula before you decided to deviate a bit and do your own thing? You said you then added 2 zinc sulfates and then eventually 3, how long did you do both for and why?

2. I'm not sure if it was in this thread but i saw that someone got stains on their scalp/hair from using b6 in their formula when i create mine i plan on keeping it in but I am African American with short hair (i.e michael b jordan hair) and i dont want to get any stains as they would definitely show. So do i need to take it out completely to avoid that or can i use less b6 capsules to reduce the chances? So instead of 3 b6 i use only 2 or maybe even 1? Can anyone touch on the difference between when they use zinc only versus when using it in combination with b6? I know you use zinc only for awhile with much success so can you guide me on how important you feel b6 is in the formulation? does it help a lot or a little? can i afford to keep it out of the formulation if the staining is a concern for me?

if you or anyone else can answer this, it will be greatly appreciated. Thank you for this post again

I doubled the concentration early on. Within a year. I added alcohol, so yes youre right it's not original, but a bit of a hybrid which works well for me.

I wouldnt worry about staining, you'll see. It us a yellow, but it doesnt stain unless you're actually bald. Which im sorry to say is likely to late for you for any treatment.

I have been on zix for 13/14 years and been following these threads just as long. I have never read this and have a relatively full head of hair which says everything I need to say about that.

yes but there a few people that comment and say that heppend to them also

Well I can assure you that it has worked for many and most there were saying it's zinc alone that loses effectiveness. You need B6 to make this solution effective at reducing dht.

I cant force you to try it, and whether you do doesnt affect me. But what I can tell you, this is not like minoxidil. You wont become dependent, you wont lose hair. It's up to you in the end.

Hair’s Zinc Level on Androgenic Alopecia
> http://article.sciencepublishinggroup.com/pdf/10.11648.j.ajcem.20160405.13.pdf

"hair zinc levels may play a role in the occurrence of androgenic alopecia. Where the hair zinc levels decreased in patients with androgenic alopecia. When dealing with hair loss, zinc is a potent inhibitor of a regression of hair follicles and accelerate the recovery of the hair follicle. Zinc also cause modulation of the activity of type 1 and 25α reductase.
