Obsidian, why don't you try Lee's minoxidil 6% plus and see if just topical finasteride causes problems for you. If it does, then at least you only absorbed very little systemically to know if you can tolerate it. Then if you can tolerate it, you could either continue with the topical or add oral finasteride.

Yeah I was thinking of that but instead to save money I was gonna take the Propecia I had left (about twenty something), crush a few into a fine powder, and put it into my minoxidil bottle and test it that way to see if it is hurting me instead of throwing down some unnecessary cash.

Plus, I recently started using minomuck (topical saw palmetto and beta sisterol with polysorbate 80) and I have been feeling no effects besides shedding a little more hair than usual, so I guess I will give a try here soon. :punk:

Well I just took .5mg of Propecia about five minutes ago. Wish me the best this time.

Thanks man, also I am not halving Propecia because I think the micro-dosages help that much but only because it saves money with Propecia.

I find it funny how we both joined around the same time and have all this hair loss knowledge and yet we keep dropping treatments :)

I'm back on finasteride myself - finally got a legit rx for generic Proscar. Wish I had been taking it steady since April 2008 when I got my first rx for Propecia (damn expensive though.)

Anyway, I've been back on for 2 months and plan on it giving it a whole year this time. You should do the same.

I plan to. Did you drop the foam? You ever think of giving the liquid at least a try? Twice a day at first does sound daunting but once you get it down, it becomes almost as normal as brushing your teeth.

I thought I would just update with photos, got my hair cut short and my pattern is starting to look a little more pronounced when wet. It probably doesn't help the last month I have been kind of inconsistent with minoxidil applications due to school and other commitments. :thumbdown2:

Obsidian, honestly your hair does look thicker and improved but short haircuts can help give that look. If you look at the photo of the back of your head and use your imagination, it almost looks like you have a thin hair transplant scar due to way the light hits your scalp. Maybe I am getting a vision of your future..............................................

Your hair is wet so of course you gonna see through to the scalp. Even on the sides where your hair shouldnt be thinning you can see through so I dunno, looks ok to me!

So it's been thirty days since starting .5mg of Propecia. I get my prescription from MedicalWellnessCenter and get it filled out at Costco. I am going through shedding still and I will update with pictures later today or tomorrow. I noticed slight nut-ache after the second day but it disappeared after a week or so. About two weeks I started shedding. Otherwise no sides.

Since you got this hypoandrogenic thing last time...if I were you I'd take only 0.25 mg a day, dissolving the pills in ethanol or something like that.

Well I think the only reason I got that was due to me going off it for about a week. So far, I haven't experienced any R.H. effects, plus it's hard even with a disposable razor to chop up a Propecia into 4th's.

Day 49

Propecia .5mg: 49 days
minoxidil: 13 months
Copper Peptides: 6 months
Nizoral: 4 months

I started really shedding 3 weeks into treatment and I would say my worst region is the front part of the scalp. I seem to be thinning in an NW3Aish pattern with some thinning all around in an NW5 pattern. One good thing I have noticed is that all the hairs I have been shedding have been thin/weak looking hairs and not thick/healthy hairs. I hope by day 90 or so there will be some good signs showing.

Also, I can't stress enough on being constant with minoxidil, it is alright to take a night off a week but otherwise do it 2x a day otherwise, at least in my case, I start shedding and once I start up with 2x a day the shed slows and stops.

Also, I am going to start doing Folligen Every Other Day just because it can be messy as I have messed up a pillow covers with it. :thumbdown2:

Jeez Obsidian... :shakehead:
judging from what i see in pics from pg 15 - you shouldn't f*** with you hair m8, it only make it worse, at age 23 you hair looks perfectly normal, the more stuff you put in it the more youll get it to shed....(youll cry over this later on!)

So I buzzed my head yesterday all over with a 3, how does it look? And more importantly I think my loss in the crown area is worse than I thought :thumbdown2:

The way in which you've lost hair is really weird...almost like the beginning of a bald spot plus some kind of "female" pattern where it kind of thins through the middle instead of all over and doesn't affect your hair line as strongly.

It could be the reason you haven't been albe to clear it up altogether with treatments.

On the bright side, its probably unnoticeable to anyone who isn't looking for it directly with a camera flash.

True, the camara flash makes your hair look worse than it is in reality, that's worth remembering.

Your short haircut suits you Obi, makes you look more manly than the longer do you were sporting before.

Also your hair is strong, it ain't going no where in a hurry and your crown looks fine, I think you're stressing too much over this, make a concious effort not to look in the stare in the mirror too much, you only end up convincing yourself your hair is worse than it actually is....Been there before. :)

u dont have male pattern baldness u have a very nice hair...

I wouldn't say that.

He clearly has some sort of thinning through the middle and crown of his scalp.

I know he posts pictures of the sides of his hair (those do not show thinning, fyi, your hair points in the direction of the camera so it appears invisible) but the top and back pictures shows that he does.
