I never heard it as 'white' cops i have only heard it as 'cops'.
In my opinion its more of a 'union' thing with the cops and its training.
SOME cops I know personally-who i grew up with--are pretty racist white guys Italian and Irish guys...so there is racism to at least some degree---its not to say these guys are going out looking to shoot innocent black people.
BUT I know for a fact from one of there wives--when they want overtime--they will pick up a black guy on a bogus charge just to run OT...Doubt they would do this to a white guy.
Read YAHOO news, CNN, MSNBC sometime where these were first coming out. It was "white officer" in every headline. then it started to trickle away when other nationalities started popping up.
I do believe there are plenty of racist cops out there. I also believe there are plenty of people screaming racism when it isnt. I ALSO believe (proven by studies) that many times most cops, even black ones, are in a heightened state of anxiety when in a black neighborhood simply by the fact they know know there is more personal risk involved. A white cop goes into a black neighborhood and no one wants to talk to whitey. This may even turn a non racist white cop to the other side. A black cop goes into a black neighborhood and no one wants to talk to the uncle tom.
The frustrations and complications are a two way street whether people will admit it or not.
