I will never never buy the 5ar spironolactone cream unless I can find out how many milligrams of spironolactone is in it. spironolactone pills are very inexpensive, and maybe I could make a custom dosage especially for my needs or larger supply by crushing up the pills myself. Oh and save some money right now would help me too!

Seems I remember a Bryan post on how to crush up the pills and there was a formula of ingredients too. Oh great, something else to do and more time spent looking through this forum for something, now where is my list, I will empty the garbage and feed the dog, oh sh... THE DOG!

""But unfortunately, it's the only topical antiandrogen we have that's easily available to us, so spironolactone is all that I can recommend.""

I meant, what are the topical antiandrogen that work but are difficult to get by us??

"""I had these sides from spironolactone. Shortness in breath, chest pains. (wasn't bad)"""

Those sides are a big strong i think...

So spironolactone it's the only topical antiandrogen avaiable that don't cause life threatning sides? And that might work?

I want to try this stuff rather than buy Dr Lees again.

However, $30 for shipping to UK is pretty extortionate. (Dr Lee charges $7!). And GenHair I believe also charges a lot for shipping, and you need to buy batches of 3 (And the website looks a bit shady anyway).

RU58841. 17a-Propylmesterolone.

Ok i see it's very difficult, how can we get it?

And if it really really works why the big companies don't put it in the market?

if works beter than every product in the market, why isn't the next rogaine (in anti-androgen not growth) ?

No company is going to spend hundreds of millions of bucks for it for FDA approval. Not gonna happen.

But if it's so effective, it should go to the market!

Where can we buy the stuff? Any pharmacy?

Even from outside? Or is not avaiable for the normal persons?

ive purchased s5 cream from this site and recieved it a couple of days ago

after reading through this topic i am really confused! i purchased it because i had to stop taking finasteride due to sides. I decided to go for s5 because of one big factor - they said it had no sides - but now im reading about possible heart problems, short breath, WTF, why do they not tell you this? surely they are liable to tell you this as they are serious allegations????
does anyone know if these sides are true?
also are there sides similar to finasteride from it?(i gained a really weak bladder from finasteride which i still suffer with now) can topical s5 have theses sides to?
i also use minoxidil once daily, to use s5 twice daily and minoxidil once is alot to keep up. i saw on another post that someone said they apply s5 20 mins after applying minnox, is that safe?
my hair is like an oil slik after applying minnox, it just seems like not a good idea to apply s5 on top? and maybe they wont work aswell when used together like that? although it would be alot easier if i could.

im not happy that s5 claims no side effects at all when people complain of heart problems. ive just bought a years supply, i mean, im happy to try these products cos sometimes its just nice to know that your trying the most you can atleast, but ive had it with products with sides.....and i thought s5 was safe, surely you can claim off them if you get sides they havent declared.

sorry to go on, just feels like a constant loosing battle. any help is greatly appreciated.

thanks

S5 cream and hart problems? I'm wondering who had hard problem caused by topical 5% Spironolactone? There is a chance that someone may be allergic to Spironolactone which may cause some problems but it's far away from hart problems.

It is safe to use spironolactone after minoxidil however I found that it's easier to spread spironolactone cream when minoxidil is absorbed, meaning dry out. I used to wait around 20 min, now I wait a little longer - around 30-45. Also the other reason you dont want to apply spironolactone right abfter minoxidil is the smell.

Just apply it, see how it goes for you and keep us posted.

Why is it that spironolactone, unlike finasteride, isn't systemically absorbed when applied topically compared to orally? Especially considering that spironolactone has an even longer half life compared to finasteride.

Also, why are people making it into a cream instead of a liquid (as liquid is generally easier to apply, especially if you have a longer hair)? In one of the studies they even used it in a liquid made out of water, ethanol and glycerin.

So why not just mix up some pills in ethanol, water and PG?

When it comes to spironolactone, the biggest challenge was to eliminate the odor. Try to compare the smell of liquid vs cream and you will know the answer.

I can't since I have neither.
