I would be happy with my NW2 if I had thick dense hair. But I don't, it's thinning, dull and very thin in general, which makes my scalp easily visible, especially around the temples and thus making me look balder than most NW2s.

This so much. My hairline itself is probably a NW1.5 but it literally looks like someone set my hair on fire in NW6 pattern. The only place I'm starting to regain some density in is the crown, but the frontal third has barely improved. When you have diffuse thinning you can't style your hair for sh*t, you have to comb over the front of your hairline to look sort of normal and even then it looks dull and shitty.

I'd take a thick NW2.5 over what I have now

Haven't really read any replies so I don't know if someone already said it. Imo anyone who's full density nw1-3 with solely recession and no thinning anywhere else on the scalp isn't ever perceived as someone that's balding, and can still style their hair to cover it up, therefore can't really relate.

I empathize with anyone who's going through any degree of thinning though, even nw1. I also think most people don't realize their own hairloss until the thinning kicks in and they're already nw2-3, now with aggressive thinning, that's how I got fucked. I didn't care at all that my hairline was nw2, sh*t I was most likely nw2 at 18, and only realized I had male pattern baldness at 22 when the tip of my hairline had a triangle of no hair, that, was hands down one of the worst days of my life.

Pathetic cope. Anyone with a NW2 hairline is seen as balding in 2017. Unless your hair is naturally like that, it is noticeable that you have TINNING HAIR aka death.
