Are you in college? Social life? Friends? If you don't want to answer these questions just ignore them. I only ask because you just sound very frustrated about your life as opposed to depressed about baldness.

If there's any discrimination I've gone through in my life is being an Asperger sufferer. I've been written of countless times by peers while growing for showing the slightest amount of awkwardness, even during the days way before I had any hair loss. To this day I still haven't been with a female and have no decent social group to interact with. Having male pattern baldness has been a breeze for me compared to having ASD with what I've gone through.

Maybe you don't have aspergers? Maybe it doesn't exist? They said gayness was a mental illness not long ago. Find better friends you feel comfortable around and you won't feel/act awkward anymore.

its a battle. society throws constant messages at you as a baldie that you are inferior, but whenever i cut myself off from society i realize that there really is nothing wrong with us other than being less attractive on average.

honestly i don't get discriminated against in everyday life, its mainly the way we are depicted that pisses me off and reveals peoples true thoughts on us

well idk if i have aspergers but i'm definitely socially anxious and awkward as ****. it sucks *** too, most of my socializing is online. but trust me, this sort of thing gets a lot worse when you are bald. feeling inferior + preexisting social awkwardness and anxiety really sucks. the baldness magnifies these social issues.

I do have it and have been diagnosed by professionals. It is real and does exist.

I have one great friend and I'm happy with that, and he also has ASD. I have another good friend who also has ASD but we don't see each other a whole lot. I don't looks for friends anymore like I used to, I'm staying with what I have. Most important is that I have a caring and loving family, that itself fuels my life with motivation, not than having a bunch of friends whom I don't know that well. But the full-blown rejection by my peers growing up was quite painful, and does still hurt to this day. I'm just glad that I have family who accepts and cares for the way I am, or I probably wouldn't be around.

Really? Is gayness a disease? 30 years ago those same professionals would have diagnosed a gay man as mentally ill. There is no gene for aspergers or any other mental illness at all, so maybe it doesn't exist. Don't discount this very real posibility. This is one of the U.K.'s top psychologists:

Maybe, like those gays who were wrongly diagnosed as mentally ill, your wrong diagnosis has become a self fulfilling prophecy that has ruined a big chunk of your life. Find a better peer group, spend enough time with them and your social skills will improve to normal levels and all your problems will be solved.

If it's hard for you to understand the vast majority of jokes and don't follow social cues very well at all, you could be on the spectrum. I don't have social anxiety, yet socializing has been near impossible for me for those who aren't educated about my ASD. But yeah, having Male Pattern Baldness plus a neurological condition where it make normal instinctive social interactions challenging, it makes life unbearable at times.

The first step in getting any kind of sympathy would be for society to actually acknowledge that people look down upon and discriminate against bald people. At this point in time going bald is a joke and not worthy of any kind of sympathy. A good indicator is how certain discrimination is handled in the workplace. Using your list from above: LGBT people, minorities, fat people... if any of those groups were discriminated against or even a joke made about any of those groups there would be an HR investigation and at the very least somebody would be written up. On the other hand if somebody told a bald joke nobody would even think twice about it.

We have a long way to go unfortunately as even most of us have the mentality that "it is no big deal".

i see your point, but you in your attempt to not blindly follow authority, you go too far the opposite way with the implying that they're nearly or always wrong just because they've been wrong in the past

think about it critically, focus on the factual observations themselves rather than the theories that are made to fit them. plenty of factual observations have shown the brains of both gays and asperger's to be different, and lots of genes have been associated with both. best practice is to believe the theory that explains the most while simultaneously is contradicted the least. it will never be perfect, but its the best we have

Homosexuality obviously is not a disease cocohot, and this topic isn't the most relevant to what I'm talking about.

Mental and neurological illnesses can be genetic, such as Bipolar, Alzheimer's, Fatal Familial Insomnia, and Schizophrenia just to name a few. To say that there's no gene for something like this is simply not true. The diagnosis isn't wrong, and it actually brought me relieve to know exactly what I have, it didn't ruin any part of my life. I've been doing more positive activities lately in my life and things are now just starting to getting better.

To say that finding a better peer group, spending enough time with them where my social skills will improve to normal levels along with all my problems being solved, is a rather invalid statement. Asperger's isn't a character defect. Look at this way, it would be like saying all men with extensive hair loss who start wearing a hair piece will have all their problems solved. It makes no sense at all really. :p

You're talking out of your *** man. Asperger's IS a real disability. Although nowadays according to the DSM-V it's just grouped with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). Finding a better peer group isn't exactly going to be the end all cure to his problem, it lies much deeper than that...

There are usually other characteristics besides being """""""socially awkward"""" with Asperger's such as over-sensitivity to loud noises and bright lights. fixed interests, etc.

Source: I work with this population of individuals.

TBH I think being bald decreases your chances of being happy, but I am unsure we suffer the same kind of discrimination that minorities or LGBT people suffered in the past.
Bald people have never been enslaved or incarcerated for being bald.
YET.

I'm sorry to hear that man. I've heard people talking about Asperger's but I am really unfamiliar with it. If you don't mind me asking, how does it negatively affect a person's life?

Loose weight is VERY easy. (comparing to regrow hair)

No it's not, it's eaiser than regrowing hair but it's not easy at all, for many people it just doesn't happen.
Plus, if you're fat, and manage to to lose all that weight, you then stay with excess skin, looks even uglier.

And it still doesn't change my point that being fat is worse than being bald, people treat fat people much worse than they treat bald people.
