That's nice, I am pre-med student over here at C.U., and a enthusiastic student of TCM, at I.C.H. For someone hailing from Europe, your english is strikingly well for a foriegner, I say this because I have many good friends, and relatives from Europe, and they generally don't speak with the 'american flair' which I see with you here.

The vast majority of the younger generation of non Europeans speak better English than most Americans.
Also what's this 'American flair' you speak of?
You just lived up to the stereotypical American....

There are many other stories like those on similar gluten free boards but for full disclosure I will also admit that there are also a decent amount of people who did not notice a response from their hair to the change in diet. There is no one cure-all that will work for everyone.

Great post.

I personallly am pretty certain that having cut out all new world foods (grains, dairy, legumes etc) I will see a positive benefit in my hair, because there are two members in my family (fathers brother, and a cousin) who have coeliac disease, and they are the only two males out of 12 or so uncles cousins and brothers, that have kept their hair.

It's been sad finding out how strong the hereditary component can be. Upon finding out that I had gluten problems I convinced my sister to go on the gluten free diet and she's already having the exact same physical withdrawal issues that I went through in my first week off that toxic crap. I've also talked to my brother and father who share almost all of the same symptoms as I had before quitting it and they will be going in for testing or trying the diet soon. Out of my father's 3 sisters, only one follows a special diet to keep her insulin levels in check and she's the only one without noticeable hair thinning (at 70).

I must stress though that if you have celiacs in your family and are attempting to knock the stuff out of you diet you have to be sure to get all of the gluten out of your diet. Gluten is more than just wheat. Western food manufacturers use extracted gluten in a ridiculously large amount of products and it is most often times hidden under different names (like "natural flavors").

Even a small amount can keep the damage going in your system while you're trying to quit. My body purged itself the other day from some cross contamination I got from feeding my dogs wheat based dog treats.

I follow the Paleo diet, without variation.

People who think the world revolves around America.
I'm not saying all Americans are like that, they certainly aren't, but that's the stereotype.
