This is why I think hair cloning is still at least 8 years away in the most optimistic scenario

The exciting thing is that hair transplants got so much better in the last decade. If you are not high on the Norwood scale and is a good responder to minoxidil and or fina you have real chances to never look like you're balding.

Heino was right the whole time. Not even a topical has been released. We know nothing about alopecia.

before we can clone hair follicles. We need to know what causes hairloss. Maybe it’s not even DHT. Nobody really has a good answer . Nobody even knows the Mechansim of minoxidil in increwasing the Anagen phase of hair. Minoxidil is the best treatment for alopecia at the moment

Yeah, I decided I will get a hair transplant. I will be on NW0 again. Then I will use finasteride until I die. This is my best option nowdays. Using Minoxidil is boring as f**k.

I think in the near term the cure will be in a form of various different treatments rather than a one time "fix". If you still have hair, then a combination of Follica, Histogen and samumed treatments will hopefully give you a significant regrowth and maintenance or at least slow down the hair loss for years until a true cure is released.
Samumed's phase 3 trial will end next Jan, the results will be published in the coming months. their phase 2 results showed an average increase in hair density of 10% in only 3 months.

Now the questions are:
Does SM04554 loses its efficacy over time ( like min )?
Does it increase the hair count and density beyond 10% with prolonged use?

If the answers to the above questions are:
1-No
2-Yes

then maybe SM04554 is the "preventive cure" that people will use once they notice that they are experiencing hair loss. my only concern with their phase 2 results is the adverse health effects they mentioned.. One participant out of 102 developed basal cell carcinoma (skin cancer).. it could be a coincidence but still...

Sorry but no, no and no. I put zero faith in those treatments. 10% increase is sh*t. Say you originally had 70 follicles per cm2. Now after balding you have 20 follicles/cm2 (and I'm being generous). a 10% increase means you went from 20 to 22 follicles/cm2. It's absolutely nothing.

Histogen is even worse as they have been around for a decade and haven't delivered sh*t either.

I'll give the benefit of the doubt to Follica. Maybe if you are already a good responder to minoxidil, wounding can improve the treatment but I'm not getting my hopes up much either as I'm not expecting anything revolutionary considering the results people are already getting with wounding+minoxidil+fina.

normal hair density is about 120 - 200 depends on what kind of hair you have of course.

if you only have 70 hair cm2 then you are already balding/thinning

IMO Follica has always had a lot of potential because of the raw concept. Trick the body into healing itself and fixing the problem. The body can definitely create all-new terminal hairs on long-balded skin. It has been observed happening from minor abrasions and from needling. If the body can do it once then maybe it can be tricked into doing it more. It could work and it wouldn't even need to be expensive.

But I don't see Follica producing any kind of game-changer without using a new (or almost new) artificial drug. If there was any way to cause major hair regrowth from wounding + an existing substance, then humans would have stumbled onto it already. Probably centuries ago. Grown men have always gotten head injuries of all kinds. It's not even unusual today, let alone back when life was more violent & dangerous.

Normal hair density is beyond the point here, but was talking about follicle (units) not hairs.

Take a look at this dude who has above average hair density in his donor area (which allowed him to have a 10k+ grafts gigasession with Dr. Zarev). He was measured to have between 74-84 FU/cm2 in his donor area originally.

I have been using finasteride for... 5 years I guess. My hairline didn't move a millimeter. I must be Norwood 1.5 right now and, since I have a thick and curly hair, it will be easy for me to go back to NW0.

I don't like the idea of visible scar on the back of my head since I like my hair to be short. Ofc the perfect treatment for me would be hair cloning, but I have to be realistic. Taking finasteride and making a hair transplant is the only way I can envision for me to have hair in the long term. If I had dropped finasteride, I would be bald by now and, if I don't do a hair transplant, I will never get my heairline back or I will probably hope for a miracle that might never come.

If anyone has a better and realistic treatment that doesn't take too much effort to maintain, I would enjoy to hear about it, but i doubt there is one.
