timi,

avodart is a useless drug for most people,me included,it might help maintain the crown but thats it,it will destroy your hairline like it is doing to mine, wigsville is my next option and no this is no shed

i think you could be jumping the gun a bit antonio... you have to give it at least 12 months before deciding. Then again you might be correct and it could be making your hair worse.

Are you taking GSK avodart or the generics? Where are you buying from?

lol..

one guy talks about oral spironolactone... scary..

the other takes 2,5 mg of finasteride per day (which has the same effects as 1mg) but it has double % of side effects.

People are becoming insane these days.

What is your hairline pattern.

I am wondering if people with different hairline patterns might have different results.

ie how good are the results for people with sharp widow peek?

You are only at 7 months... it seems that people using dutasteride and shedding freak out and stop before they give the drug a sufficient amount of time to do its thing and then they come here and claim that dutasteride made them lose more hair and it doesn't work.

You have to give it at least another 5 months before you judge the results.

I always come back to what Marty Sawaya said about dutasteride...

"It may be that peoples expectations are a bit too high, but Dutasteride's results were the "best" that has come to date, and even getting 50% hair counts better than Finasteride is great. Just think of the fact that this was only at 6 months.

Many expect that numbers will be even higher as the study continues to 12 months, 2 years etc. It's possible that over 50% of men will be getting moderate to dense regrowth on Dutasteride, compared to the less than 25% of men who experience these results with Finasteride.

I also agree that dutasteride can only be better in the long run. It's the damn herendous sheds that make people lose hope on it. The person(s) that showed improvement at 6 months is/are not typical. For most of us on dutasteride, at 6 months, hair is still shedding like a mother and very thinned out.

The rule that you have to give it at least a year should be followed even more strictly with dutasteride than with finasteride.

Timi, I am not going to post pics again until I complete my full year of treatment.
I am at month 9 and my hair loss has stabilized.. it is not worse than before.

I understand the feelings of helplessness that the shedding makes you experience, I felt the same way at month 8.

Yea, I'm really struggling with this right now. I'm on about month 7 and shedding like crazy after the initial regrowth. Its really disheartening, but I still have hope that this will stop. Its pretty crazy to think I could still go bald even though I'm doing everything.

i think alot tend to shed months 7-9 on propecia and dutasteride after good regrowth. i just think its a sighn of more hairs on your head then before you started treatment, more hairs you have more hairs that potentially will shed, the key is not to judge sucess by shedding but to your overail hair quality ie. your haircount n thickness.

thats just it. My hairs looking thin all over my head not just in the back where I first had the problem. overall thickness is crap

Overall thinning does not mean that dutasteride is not working for you (unless something else is going on besides male pattern baldness). Whatever you do, do not give up at this point. If you do, all of this will have been for nothing (you will sure as hell shed then - and it will not come back).

We've all been through this. I am just recovering from the same shed that occured b/w months 6-8. I don't think anyone here (except for that timi character) has reported no improvement when they stuck it out for at least 12 months. So, just take a chill pill along with your dutasteride if you have to and ride this out.

Hi everyone!
Sorry but my English is terrible...
I'm an Italian boy and I never studied English.
Timi I have the same your experience with Duta: orrible hair, yellowish, and frontal recession but I have the solution...
Some people, like me and you, are very sensible at this drug and 0,5mg is a eccessive dosage...
Now I take 0,5mg once a week or cut the Dr Reddy's veltride in four parts and take a part everyday.
The hairs quickly turned in a good condition and I have some improvment not only at the vertex but even in the frontal area.
Duta 0,5mg caused cronic telogen effluvium in many people because is a drug very strong.
Believe me, try with a lower dose
