We don't know. 2.5mg was higher above baseline at 9 months than finasteride ever was. but 0.5mg got the same response at 1 year as proscar did, but that was in a 17 identical twin study. Some of the twins did about as bad as their placebo twin.

dutasteride/finasteride Combo

I took Propecia for 6-7 years and then found it slowly lost effectiveness. Switched to dutasteride 0.5 mg/day in 2004. After 6 months it had great effect on hair but terrible sides so I stopped and went back to finasteride. In time I found the best balance was finasteride 1.25 per day (1/4 of a 5mg tab) and dutasteride 0.5 mg 2-3 times per week plus Rogaine Foam for a little booster. I can't explain why the combo works but it is important to realize that we often discover that something works by anectodal experiences before we know exactly why something works.

I rinse out an old minoxidil bottle, use a new pipette, pipet 10mL of everclear into the bottle, then cut 4 dutas capsules open into the bottle and shack up. I then pipet 1/2 mL into my mouth every other day. It tastes horrible, so I have milk already in my mouth when I take it. I then swallow it all, trace it, have a meal, and brush my teeth. That gets ride of the taste. And I do this when I know I won't be going out for a while.

0.1mg EOD is like 0,5mg every 10 days. I highly doubt 1 pill every 10 days will be as good. I also don't want my hormone levels fluctuating that much. Especially estrogen. Estrogen grows hair, but causes sheds if the levels change up or down very suddenly. It grows the hair back if it stays high long enough.

I'm curious how much just one dose of 0.1mg of dutasteride lowers 5ar2. I don't know if it lowers it much right away, or if it has to build up before it does anything. I know 0.05mg dose very little.
