I think you're right in many aspects. It's undeniable that in 90% of the cases, especially for white people, balding makes you less attractive. In a society where physical attractiveness is a HUGE priority in finding a partner, the answer to this equation is balding = f*cking sucks. I won't deny this, this is why we are all here obviously. However, all I have been saying this whole time is that there are several, several other factors that add to the equation of attraction. That you can be a "6" and still HAPPILY marry a "10", because in this equation the other factors add up to you being a definitive "10" in her eyes.

and in this equation, the attraction can be so strong, that despite your shiny bald dome she will NEVER, EVER cheat on you. Fred you understand this feeling, I know it by the way you talk about your girl right now. There are some girls I have dated that, even if they were in a disfiguring car accident, I would NOT leave. Spew all the white knight nonsense you want, it's just having a good heart, and you know, because we all cal tell you're a softy who has one too.

You asked:

Perception of men with androgenetic alopecia by women and nonbalding men in Korea: how the nonbald regard the bald.

Reports
International Journal of Dermatology. 41(12):867-869, December 2002.
Lee, Hyun-Jeong MD; Ha, Seog-Jun MD; Kim, Dongjae PhD; Kim, Hyung-Ok MD; Kim, Jin-Wou MD

Abstract:
Background: Baldness has significant negative psychosocial effects. It has been asserted that the negative effects of baldness are often trivialized by the nonbald. Most studies concerning the perception of baldness have focused on the perceptions of the bald by themselves. In this study, we assessed the perception of baldness by the nonbald in Korea.

Method: A questionnaire on the perception of balding men was answered by 130 women (age range 15-58 years), 90 nonbalding men (age range 18-72 years) and 30 balding men (age range 20-63 years).

Results: Balding men were perceived as being older and less attractive by over 90% of respondents. A perception that balding men are less confident, duller, and less potent was reported by less than half of respondents. A perception that balding men are less attractive was significantly more common among women than among nonbalding men (P < 0.05). A perception that balding men appear less confident was significantly more common among balding men than among nonbalding men (P < 0.05).

Korea... do you have one for Europe or the U.S.? and once again, this is based entirely on physical attraction which is not taking into factor all the other variables I have been talking about.. read my other post.. i am asking, if you were truly in love with a woman, and she went bald, would you leave her? would you cheat on her? I am just curious.

Oh please stop about the white knitting bull****.
If any guy agrees with me he's called a white knight. That would not happen if I was a guy huh ? If I was a guy it would just be called "sharing the same opinion".

oh... Fred, I get it, you're implying that I am interested in Parisienne and being a "white knight".. yes, she seems kinda hot, and since i've never seen her, that's 100% based on her PERSONALITY. wahahaha... BAM EAT IT!! :p

Well, I hope she does stay with you obviously and I have a feeling she will. If she doesn't, then she's not who you thought she was. But, I am done replying on this thread. I don't want to upset anyone. Lets agree to disagree. Good luck brother, we are all routing for you.

I've seen her, and you're right: She is a hottie.

Different strokes for different folks. I've been around a lot longer and have seen all types of happy marriages. One husband left his job for several years to be a stay-at-home dad until the last was in school full time. Most couples, both worked (some women full time, some part time). My stepdaughter is the breadwinner (no kids yet), and, so far, she's ok with that. As for me, I've done both: Worked part time (from home) with my first and didn't work with my second. I just could not leave my kids in day care. I didn't want to miss out on any firsts, and also, my husband could go to work and not have to worry about helping with things that arose. I'm not a career person, never will be, but that's what works for us. But I do understand the innate feeling of some men that they should be the breadwinners.

Joan, you're always the voice of reason. I love the quote, "different folks, different strokes". Consider leaving your husband and marrying me Joan... just consider it. hahaha :banned:

Thanks :).

Oh, and it works from man to woman, you can fall in love with a girl you've never seen based on her personality.

Never the other way around. Try setting up a dating profile without pictures, see how many dates you get.

I would say men are more looks orientated. A woman may be willing to compromise on looks if the man has money, which is not really the case the other way around. Look at that fat Australian woman worth 18 billion, she's fat, ugly and no man will look at her. Bernie Eccelstone and Donald Trump don't see to have the same problem.

Regretting not having children is way better than regretting having children. Not all people want or should have children. Don't worry guys, no civilization has ever disappeared because no one was having children.

And parisienne, working ten times harder because of what others think of you is not a way to be happy. Depending on what others think of your for your happiness isn't sustainable and working is not a virtue in itself. Unless you work on really important things like curing cancer or finding new energy sources, your work isn't really that important. It's a common pitfall a lot of people fall in, they think if only they put just a little bit of more effort into it, they will surely "make it"â„¢.

That guy that discovered that infection could be drastically reduced if doctors washed their hands before surgery ended up in asylum and beaten to death by the guards shortly after. Everyone thought he has crazy and didn't listen to him.

I think the thing with rich guys is that even though they can't get "any girl", they can probably always find a girl who is far above their level lookswise. So from far away it appears that they can get any girl, but that's not exactly what's going on.

Take Donald Trump for example. He looks like a comic book villain. Most beautiful women would reject him. Regardless, he found a (Slovenian ??) glamour model for himself who is ~30 years younger than he is.

Women never, ever compromise on looks, you're talking about good-diggers here, world class psychopathic glorified prostitutes with no morals and soul and ready to do anything.

Your average woman though, or any woman you see in your everyday life, she won't compromise on looks. She needs someone who's at least decent.

I'll give the example of my mother again, she was gorgeous when she was young, and had many offers of filthy rich guys, who offered her to fly on their private jets for example.

She's always declined, and she told me the guys weren't necessarily ugly, they were just not her type. If a guy is not a woman's type, no amount of money and status will change her mind.

I truly believe this. Thinking all women will submit to you in the blink of an eye because you have money is a poor man's wet dream, a fantasy. It just doesn't work.

Having money and status just allows you to meet more women in short period of time, to be noticed, and in these women, there are some that will find you to be her type.

These are the women you'll have a shot with. All the others, who are not world class psychopathic glorified prostitutes, will tell you to go to hell.

There's something that never impresses me. People who've worked so hard, ten times harder, day and night, sacrificing their health, their family, their time, their energy, their money to get where they are.

Well of course you've succeeded then! There's nothing impressive about it. Show me someone who has accomplished great things by working smart, or against all odds, and then I'll be impressed.

It reminds me of these people who always had an average of 18/20 at university, and these people would still mock my 12.5/20, "I have ambitions in life! You are lazy" "Yeah well I have a life."

You would find motivational quotes on their Facebook saying how sleeping was for the weak or how Tatcher was such a great person.

The greatest achievements typically require great effort.

The 18/20 is a good achievement, not a great one. It sets up the possibility of great achievements down the road, depending on what one does with the better grades.

These people put in a lot of efforts because they'd never had what it takes to begin with.

You need to already be naturally good at something to achieve great things in an area.

About what you can do with the better grades: not much. Employers don't give a f-ck about your average here in Belgium.

I see plenty of these people who've worked ten times harder only to have the same jobs as the people who barely had passing grades.

When you point it out to them, they rage. I sometimes feel like that with women, ten times the effort to get the hotties the NW1 would have gotten effortlessly.

Great achievements require both effort and talent.

A trivial example would be the olympics. They all have great genes. And many of them have been training since they were 4 years old. Michael Phelps, the swimmer, had great genetics, and he also needed to eat $12,000 calories/day. Novak Djokovic, the tennis player, has great genetics, and he shifted from being 3rd best in the world to 1st around the time he changed his diet. I'm sure he trains a lot.

The same is true in science. I can give you anecdotes in science if you want, or you can take my word for it.

Employers offering $45,000/year mediocre corporate jobs don't care if you got 17/20 on your Baccalaureat. I can tell you of lots of places that care though.

It's important to remember that grades are just 1 part of life. It's good to get good grades, but not at the cost of everything else.

All of the people I know who went to medical school were both intelligent and hard workers.

The people I know who went to Wall Street were mostly hard workers, and mostly intelligent. Same with Silicon Valley / google, etc.

I'm not saying that you should work ~15 hours/day. That's usually a bad idea. But having an IQ of 130 is not enough. There are ~170 million people out there with an IQ of 130 or higher. That doesn't get you anything without work.

Heck, the majority of people with IQs above 200 are doing nothing with their lives, since they mostly have no willpower to work.

I did know people who effortlessly cruised college. A lot of them ended up amounting not much. One of them was clearing snow off ice rinks. Another was in graduate school for 10 years.

What we know about Phelps is that he's both extremely talented and hard working.

Your more detailed assumptions, that he doesn't work harder than the others but is more talented, are without basis.

And yes, there's a difference between being in the top 10% and being the best in the world at something. An average person can always make the top 10% through hard work. A talented person can make the top 10% through minimal work. To be the best, you'll need a lot of both.
