Hey inland,

What treatments are you currently using? What is your diet like? I can't keep up with the thread :innocent:

Hey inland, you've mentioned that you use, or have used, tricomin spray. Just curious what your thoughts on the tricomin shampoo and conditioner are?...Also, generally how early in your treatments (finasteride included) did you begin to notice improvement? Ex - increase in density, etc. Thanks

See my responses on page 13 / 14 for my feedback on tricomin shampoo/cond

Aggressive loss hit me out of nowhere and I started treatment on finasteride right away. It seemed to instantly stop the aggressive loss in its tracks. After a few months, I started to notice an improvement.

Hey,
I’ve read all through out this thread and am overall impressed and relieved that this regimen you are now on is working well for you, perhaps it may suite me. Though I am a bit weary of minoxidil. Or Rogaine. Reason being I believe there’s a chance it might cause me a lot of excessive shedding and may make things worse/unreversable, from what I heard and read. I guess another reason I am afraid of minoxidil is because one time I tried this “nuhair’ serum, and that made my hair shed really bad for whatever reason, and scared me.

I was also thinking about propecia, but I am a bit afraid of that, mostly because of the mental effects, and potential shedding and making my hair worse, which I‘ve also read of happening. For whatever reason though I feel more comfortable going on a half dose of propecia that trying minoxidil, though I wouldn’t want to go on propecia long term.

Is it not common for people who gain hair on propecia to keep it after going off it ? Even if they went on a regimen like yours ?

I am liking the idea of spironolactone cream, nizoral shampoo or something similar, and tricomin spray, do any of these have a potential to cause shedding, like what you sometimes read about with other products ? I know they probably don't for you, but have you heard of them doing this ?

I would like to share my story, and while long, it is unusual to say the least. I plan on writing about in full detail in the introduction section of this site soon. And could add a bit on here if you want. I will say this, compared to how I use to shed, especially when I was going through the worst stages between july and decemeber of 2010, my shedding has been less severe, I would also like to note that most of the shedding came from inside the hairlines temporal region and the first frontal half of my head. I am still not sure what I should do as far as regimen goes, but what your doing seems promising, its just the minoxidil I am completely scared of.

how old are you? And don't be too scared about shedding, the people that have the worst sheds are the ones that have the best results. The only time I have heard of a shed doing damage is when the person stopped their regimen before they could regrow the shed hairs. The problem in your case was you used something that isn't proven to work.

Some people are better at tolerating certain meds than others, but really if you're suffering from temple loss and would like to get your hairline back then minoxidil is an essential part of the regimen.

My hairline shed a lot on minoxidil and looked awful initially for the first 4-6 weeks, but the shed hair regrew along with additional hair and my hairline now looks a lot better than it did back in July when I began. The clinical results don't lie, it is very effective for most people.

hey guys, just a quick update: My hair is longer than ever so I decided to take a couple pics. Haven't styled my hair up like this in years. Sorry the pics are lower quality, I used my phone. I would say I'm maintaining at this point and just using what I got.

Inland,
How long would a container of s5 cream (I assume you ordered through this site?) last given that you only applied it to the "thin spots"? Did you use it on hairline/temples?

thanks

It seems to vary, but id say at least a month and a half

I only use it on my hairline / temple in very small amounts

I think it has a scent added. It definitely doesnt reek...only if its applied before minoxidil.

yeah your hair looks good for being this long off finasteride. You sure you aren't using it? ;)

Anyways I was curious as after reading through all your threads, that since stopping finasteride, it seems you have not used an topical antiandrogen on your scalp (other than your hairline/temples). Do I have this wrong or do you put spironolactone on your other areas of your head as well?

You are correct sir. finasteride got all my hair back and im lucky in that minoxidil nizoral and tricomin have been enough to maintain.

sorry, I guess im getting sick of everyone asking me the same questions over and over again in the same thread.

To be very specific, I apply a 1/4 teaspoon total to my left and right temples, no more than 1cm above the hair line
