I've read succes stories here of people who've been bald / thinning for longer than that and still got good results from treatments. And besides, if his situation is stable now why wouldn't it work? He had diffuse loss, and diffusers usually respond good.

To add my 2cents worth, I too find UCman to be one of the most interesting people on here.

While he and I have had our disagreements, UCMan has (on more than one occasion) made me stop and think and even change my views (no small feat).

True that; while my case is somewhat exceptional, I still get fresh regrowth nearly twenty years after I first started to lose my hair, fiften years after being NW5/6.

With all due respect, but as you said, that's absolutely not comparable.

It's not, and I wasn't making a comparison.

I'm merely pointing out that there are cases where the potential for regrowth *might* be there even after 10 years.

Well if he would be able to drop just 1 Norwood level he could already be appearing to have hair with a concealer. I think that could make a difference already.

What about these cases, Norwood 5/6/7's who've gotten decent coverage considering where they've come from. If he has the money, he could get back to an NW2/3.

EDIT: Nevermind s.a.f, just realized you were responding to the deadlocks suggestion to use treatments and not transplants. I'll leave up the examples though, they're pretty amazing.

A bit off topic, but has there ever actually been a study on how long follicles can remain dormant before they are lost forever?

Common sense tells me that the longer they remain dormant, then the less likely it is that they can be recovered, and we all say "about ten years", but really what is that number based on?

I'd say its far less than that for regular treatments. Its hard enough gettimg regrowth in most cases even if you catch it early.

It still doesn't mean he can't get regrowth. Chances are perhaps unlikely but who knows how he'll respond? He might even regrow to about a NW2 or something, you never know.

I dont think the first two look good.
The last one seems worth it.
For NW5+, the chance of a good outcome is small, moreover, if the outcome is not a good success, you will look worse than before.

The first guy did go through chemo therapy after his first transplant. And the third guy who had hair transplant from his face and body is pretty amazing, no one would know he had FUE and it looks great short.

At my work, I am often given the opportunity to interact with guests mostly by giving facility tours. When I first introduce myself to a new guest, I've gauged plenty of reactions. I can see how people get initially turned off by my appearance. You can see it in their face, body language and tone of voice. But many times by giving a great tour, being well spoken and exuding a confident/positive attitude I can convert their negative first impression into something resembling a little respect. But walking around out on the street I don't have that opportunity. People just give me shitty looks and it drives me f*****g crazy.

You know UCman, your posts really comfort me sometimes. Makes me kinda get used to where I'm heading to, without twisting about the subject as most people tend to. Thanks for that.
