Did my first session with the Dr. Pen electric needler last night. Took about 10 minutes. A few hours afterwards, I could feel my pulse in my scalp like the throbbing sensation you get after a cut or something. Very strange but I think that's the goal. Didn't really have much blood, just a few spots here and there.

Which length did you use for your first session? Did you use it all over the scalp?

No way to know for sure. But, the principle of adaptability of human physiology has been proven in many things such as drug therapy, exercise, pain management, etc. I would also be worried about at what point microneedling might go from normal tissue healing and growth to fibrosis.

I don't think it's best to continue wounding your scalp every week for the rest of your life. Maybe having breaks/decreasing the frequency would work better long term.

Haircook, what is your thought on a good pen (like Ultima A6) vs Derminator regarding growth factors and results?
Money is not the problem but i cant decide between the two.

My view:
Dr Pen gives a bit more microtearing (but no scarring) compared to the derminator 2 as stated on OwnDoc. Doesnt this mean more growth factors when using the Pen and better results than derminator? I have seen people butchering their scalp and having great results. That makes me want to wound as much as possible without permanent damage, hence dr pen would be the best choice...

Cheers. I started my own story thread and said I was glad you had shared it but I can't believe what this forum is like.

I wish people could see past a 5% Amazon kick back. I've not even made $100 from combined UK/US Amazon sales.

Why do they focus on that? Why not focus on the study? Or my results? Or my dozens of photos?

There's literally a cure right in front of their noses but I'm a shill. Baldness is a self fulfilling prophecy for many on here as they'll always see an actual cure as a scam.

Just ordered a pen and have a couple of questions

I initially ignored rolling as have slightly curly and longish hair (similar to yours, maybe a bit longer) and heard that the roller yanks out hair. Seems the pen, esp when used with wet hair, doesn't do this but:


-do you see any initial traction loss when using it?

-any other tips to minimise this kind of loss?

Anyone else have any thoughts on this?

What was it like first time?

When I dermarolled I was up to a 2.0 so I went at 1.5 to test it out. When I would dermaroll I would do it in the evening and by morning it was maybe slightly red but pretty much healed. It’s been 36 hours and there is still redness. With the roller I went over the same area several times & did that with the derminator which I learned isn’t necessary. I’m gonna stay at 1.5 but just do a single pass.

One nice thing I noticed was that the derminator didn’t tangle & pull my hair out like the dermaroller did.

Are you in the US? How long did it take to deliver? The warnings on their website about USPS were a little crazy (not suggesting USPS is reliable - just seemed strange for a company to phrase it the way they did).

This was also on their page. Weird doesn't even come close....

Just did my first Dermapen session on hairline and temples with maximum 1mm depth and medium speed.

Am I the only one or does it hurt as sh*t? I had several blood spots and redness. Can't imagine how to do the whole scalp with 2mm at maximum speed.

Any comments?

yeah its painful.

Btw can you do good smooth movements with yout electric dermapen ? For me the needle kinda stuck a alot when im moving so the movement is interrupted. Skin too try to get smooth movements. ...

It's possible to move the pen with smooth movements. However In some YouTube Videos they do puncture movements (point the pen on one location, let it "stamp", lift him up and point at another direction).

I wonder if this is a better technique?

What do you guys think: When I'm using Microneedling one time a week only on the hairline and temples, can i use Minoxidil right after the microneedling on the rest of the scalp if I'm trying to avoid the application on the needled hairline and temples?

Scalp mask could be a good idea since the stamping causes a lot of stress to the scalp leading to dry skin and flaking. However with still some hair left this could be kinda messy. I m also adding taurine to my daily regimen since it has anti fibrosous properties
