Im currently needling just under my eyes for fine lines that have appeared there(dunno if it's oral minoxidil related or not) i had good results needling forehead lines a few years back so im hoping for similar good results. The redness takes longer to go away than with a manual stamp, electric device definitely wounds more effectively.
yea redness is a understatement my cheeks were a bloody mess and i went to a bar that evening and became very aware of how much drunks spit when they talk "ah my open vulnerable skin!!" red scalp / blood is non issue with my hair due to the multi-talents of a Owen Wilson comb over.

hello everybody,
Since we are talking to the non responders, i might ask a question to those who seem to don't respond at all.
What do your body hairs look like ? Above average, average, less than average men ? Do you have a beard ? Complete ?
I mean, since hairs on top of your scalp only are hairs, and if you're already struggling to grow body hair/beard, why would the top of your head massively grow hair in just a few months ? I mean, if you look at the women who microneedle on their face skin, they don't suddenly grow a massive beard in few sessions !
Also, i'm wondering if those who got nice and quick results are more hairy than average. @layabout ?

Microneedling is all about angiogenesis and building extra skin/dermis to help with the stretching of your scalp, probabably caused by your occipitalis/auricularis muscles and maybe also your bones growing.
Give it time, there's no reason that with time you won't grow back your hair !

Have you notice if your scalp has become more loose ? Is it still rock solid or can you finally pinch on various places, with no effort ? ? If the latter, you're on the right way I guess.

(sorry for the english)

I am not hairy at al. I have no beard genetics in my family, cannot grow one and probably never will. My eyelashes are average and my eyebrows are below average and sparse. Very little chest/arm hair and very thin and sparse pubic hair

idk abou pinching scalp lol, don't really believe in that

Dam you defo not going easy on yourself you seem to be doing every thing right from what we know. you before after is of two different sides of your head so cant evaluate

Im just doing it how the study says tbf.
In the 6-9 years ive maintained my hair I can say that:

minoxidil - didnt do much on its own. In fact I never noticed it do anything really except maybe maintain but not sure. At this point im too scared to quit it since ive been using it for about 8 years.
finasteride - Regrew some of my crown but not temples, has maintained everything since, first started it around 2013
Nizoral - Same as minoxidil really. But i never get dandruff, again been using this twice a week for a few years now.
minoxidil liquid - made me shed and ITCH like crazy. I used it for 2 years before i became intolerant to it and the itching was insane. Every now and then I apply it to see if im still allergic and yes, the itching begins after only applying it once. Hence ive been using minoxidil foam for the past 4 or so years.

Derma pen - Just checked my Ebay order date so I know when i started (I did it the day after I got it and have done it weekly since). 5th November 2018, ive had a total of 15 derma sessions, just passed the 3 month mark. And I can say it has not made any difference at all. Ive been maintaining all these years on finasteride, the pen isnt making me maintain anymore or any less.

Mini review of Ultima A6:

Over 15 sessions it has worked fine. I run it off mains mostly just because it runs a bit faster that way. Sometimes it wont turn on, just twist off and twist on the mains adaptor usually sorts it out. Seems reliable.
I just finished another session, accidentally did it on 2.5mm for 2 passes before realising it was the wrong setting.

Hair soaking wet with minoxidil foam

I know the pictures are hard to compare, but it feels like my hair looked better before needling. 2.5 months in... It's hard to believe for me that it will getting better.

How old are you ?
I mean if you're above 40 your less likely to grow new hair I guess, the one you have are from the end of your puberty, to your early 30, they're just terminal and don't need multiplicate anymore ?
I’m in my 20’s.... felt like I would be a perfect candidate for regrowth but it’s slow as f***

All the good responders mentioned that their hair got worse at first so people shouldn't panic. Also has anyone of the "non-responders" been doing this for more than six months? I really don´t think anyone should draw any conclusions to early into this, put your head down and power thorough for six months then assess the progress, anything before that is just us being impatient

I’m about 4 months in being needling weekly at 2mm, I definitely had new hairs coming through after a couple of months but they seemed to have shed and now my hair looks slightly worse.

Am I stupid or something? Why I always say, I'm 2.5 months in? It's only 1.5 months. Second time this happened...

Same. However, I am doing 1.5mm and in for just one month at the moment.

I am shedding a lot. Never experienced such a shed even on a minoxidil alone.

After each wash of hair I lose around 30-40 hairs. Feels so disappointing all the time.

Didn’t someone mention that if you don’t get inflammation under control, micro needling could make your hair worse and keep shedding.

Might be the case with me. My inflammation and itchiness is out of control :(
