Anytime thereis potential to bleed, there is a pathway for infection. So always have a clean/sanitized area. Ideally the area should be wiped with Betadine but it's impractical for our purposes..
My bad. I meant to say twice a month, not twice a week. It is done once every 2 weeks.I thought your said there’s a study for every 2 weeks with 2mm. You say this is weekly and twice and week?
I'm thinking... Imagine combining microneedling with something like RCH-01. Its effects could be summed up as "Minoxidil on steroids". And if microneedling + Minoxidil has done this... Who knows what could happen with microneedling + RCH-01.given the explosion in this thread, can you imagine....we might just find the cure to hair loss in 3-6 months....or not!
There shouldn't be a problem if you have proper hygiene. We have someone here who has been rolling for 5 years and he's had no problems with it so far. Thanks for your answers @74775446. You brought some hope where there was none. Question 1. is for me the most crucial. I want to start it, I really want. I don't care if it's painful, I'll only do it once a week after I shave my hair. As for the gel, I will use it instead of my current one. But if it creates lesions after X months... that is a big problem. I read a german study stating that it would in fact repair the skin, but I'm afraid about the long term consequences.
Don't think so. He goes by the name of @Kitedude 'round here.Is it the guy who wrote the book on Amazon and has a Youtube channel ?
I'd say every 4 weeks is far too long for 1.5 mm. Keep in mind that, at that length, the studies were doing it weekly.Just rolled!
I had a 1.5mm Dr. Roller for other purpose so I just decided to use it on my scalp.
The roller is clean and sanitized alcohol.
On my scalp I didn't use anything, just made it wet and then rolled.
Tried to cover about 5 times horizontally, 5 times vertical, 5 times diagonally and 5 times the other diagonally.
I'm pretty sure it I didn't cover the entire scalp, maybe something like 80% since I did it on myself.
It does hurt but not something unbareable. You just have to use it without fear and even if there is pain you jsut take it and get used to it.
I'm not applying anything on it (at least this time).
I plan to roll every 4 weeks (depends on the recovery, could also be every 6 weeks).
Here is a pic of how it looks right now (sorry if the pic disturbs you, if needed I will delete it, just thought it could help).
Any input is appreciated. Wish me luck!
Weird that some guys come with solutions as simple as that. It sounds like what my barber once tried to do with me. He is from Morroco. I had my first bald spot and he told me: "Look my friend, I will take a needle, put some alcohol on it and make some holes all over your bald spot. There will be blood but don't worry. You can come each sunday and I will do it each time you come. I will put garlic on it and you will keep it the whole night. If you do that 2 or 3 months, it will regrow. That's how we do in Morroco and trust me it worked on me, my cousin and my uncle." Obviously, I never believed the story and was scared about being infected. I just went on "Biladi" (a Franco-Morrocan forum on the internet) and a lot of people seem to be doing this (some other find it barbaric and smelly). I never believed those stories from Maghreb or Ancient Egypt... but maybe the needling process is involved in some recoveries.

Don't worry about the pic, nothing disturbing about it.
Best of luck, man!
We do have to let it heal. The process of healing is what gives the results, not wounding per se. That much we know.I know that for body skin when using 1.5mm you have to wait a minimum of 6 weeks before rolling again.
And yeah, in the indian study they needled mostly every 2 weeks.
That's why I'm not sure about the frequency.
I wonder how does it work though. I wish we had answers.
With the scalp we don't have to let the skin heal completely heal?
Only heal halfway and then disrupt it again?
What really matters? The number of times rolling or also the frequency?
The Chinese study doing it at 2 mm did it every 2 weeks. I'd say it's a good idea to wait longer.I still have flaking by day 7 which makes me think I should wait a bit longer until it's gone because it's still healing? Maybe I will do it every 10 days or 2 weeks. Will have to think about that.

However, the most effective length and frecuency remain a mystery, which is why we wanna try different things; to see if we can get a clearer picture.
7, the guy from the original Reddit thread, did 2 mm every week. However, he stated that the needles probably didn't go the full 2 mm into the scalp.
Other people have seen results doing 1.5 mm weekly. There's even a story of daily rolling with 0.5 mm, if I recall correctly.
Of course. From 1.5 mm onwards it's considered wounding. Was just mentioning that people have seen results with different lengths and frecuency.the 0.5mm daily is more for better absorption of topicals like minoxdil, I wouldn't class it as wounding.

What length \ device are you using?
