Here is another FACT: Being fat makes you stupid, enjoy.

That's not necessarily true. Being fat often times gets more of a negative stigma than it truly deserves. Fat can actually have a protective effect on the body in some cases and as such doesn't always indicate a cause as much as it indicates an adaptation to a health problem.

Obesity may simply be linked to these problems like alcoholism is to schizophrenia (correlational not causational).

Even that study still doesn't actually state that being obese is the actual cause of cognitive decline. It's simply another correlational factor. The only way that they could actually show a casual influence would be to surgically add fat onto people and then test them.

The fact that these people gained weight at the same time as their mental functioning was in decline ONLY shows that there were two different systems adapting to some sort of environmental or internal change. What's to say it wasn't the declining cognitive functioning that caused them to make poor choices about their diet and so therefor caused them to get fat? Nothing, and this is why the media fails at reporting science articles, it just makes for a better story when they can pretend they have an actual answer.

This is why just getting on a treadmill doesn't work for everyone in the same way. Being fat isn't just an example of excess energy storage in your body, most often times it's a warning sign for internal systems that have been taken out of balance. When this is the case diets and exercise won't do crap unless they are specifically addressing your internal problems that caused you to get fat in the first place.
