My young niece and I send each other funny cards in the mail sometimes. Her latest one really cut me deep.

I remember going to one of my friends with benefits a few years ago, it was before my hair transplant.

She had a 4 year old son who could not stop telling me:

"Why do you have no hair?! Mom! Why does he have no hair? He has no hair! Mister, why do you have no hair?!"

Ah kids.

Makes me think of that time a whole group of kids pointed at me and one of them shouted "Her hair is weird!" This was before my extensions of course, and I'd made a pathetic attempt at making my hair look decent that day but I guess it didn't work.

My mom has been losing a lot of hair recently and I can tell it's destroying her. We've actually bonded over it quite a bit. The Doctor recently recommended minoxidil, but that was it. Diagnosed with Telogen Effluvium, but I think she has Androgenetic Alopecia as well, because the loss is mostly concentrated in the crown. I wish I could recommend more to her, but it's hard because she has a bit too much pride to discuss it for more than five minutes.

Is she just shedding a lot of hair or she is actually thinning? When my mom was around 48, her hair suddenly started to shed massively. If I remember correctly, it eventually stopped on it's own. It's been 13 years since then and her hair is great. I don't think she lost any density due to that shed.

she's thinning pretty drastically.. I could never see scalp, and it's starting to look pretty diffuse, though she hides it well. I always noticed she had a bit of a thinner crown area, so I am thinking she has a bit of Androgenetic Alopecia and this bout of Telogen Effluvium has sped it up.

The first thing I thought when seeing this thread, "Is anyone going to claim this is the unfiltered brain in which all women view baldness?"

Because I would say it isn't, for most females at least. While many have no sympathy and will never understand baldness for a man, there are still the majority who, as they grow older, realise how things effect other people. I'm not saying most will truly understand, but baldness stops being this funny thing (unless they're incredibly immature) and starts to become this sad, unfortunate thing, they take pity on.

Not enough pity to get you laid though.

Last night, I was out to dinner with some people and showed pictures of my baby niece (~1 day old) to some people.

One of the comment from a woman aged 45 or 50: "She has more hair than Kevin".

Everyone burst out laughing at this random, spontaneous, unprompted comment.

[Kevin was the guy sitting across from me, he's NW5.5 or so, in his mid 40s I think].

OK you raise a good point, it can still be funny, overall I think people are more empathetic in their heart of hearts.

In that situation people say stupid sh*t all the time for a laugh, and people laugh along because to not laugh is practically offensive.

But are grown women of the same mentality as the niece in this topic? Most aren't, no. There is at least an ounce of sympathy and understanding.

Congrats on being an uncle by the way.

Many young kids called me Uncle..
Felt so embarassed.
Even 32/34 year old dude can't get my age.

I was never called Uncle by women.
Because they knew this problem exist.
One day i was standing with my close female friend in front of her Room where one obs gyanae hospital was located nearby.
One couple came on bike and asked me about that hospital adress,
I got shattered the moment he said uncle to me.
Immediately her Wife interrupted him by giving a push and said Bhaiya to me.that means Elder brother.

That saved me from deep emotional crash on that day.

Am I wrong for thinking this is fairly hilarious? Dont get me wrong one of my deepest regrets is making fun of my grandfather's baldness when I was a little kid. I hope it didnt hurt him. That being said "nanananana bald man" is pretty good for a little kid.

I read the poem on the right first, which is pretty funny in how innocent and blatantly offensive it is, but the nananana bald man is hilarious. I cracked up when I noticed it.

Sorry all.
