Thanks dpdr and PileOn.
@mann02: many people go through minoxidil shed so just keep it up and re-evaluate after 4-5 months.. I would say you are NW2

Zero did u see my first pic in page 1?isn't it nor wood 4 or something ?
Maybe NW3.. you are definitely not NW4 imo..

Thankyou zeroheat for the reply..i was initially sceptical about using my fingertips but now that you have confirmed it i am all charged up to use my fingertips :):)..i really look up to you as a source of inspiration as there are a lot of negativities regarding hair loss and the side effects of finasteride (eg. Propeciahelp.com etc.) Are you scared/concerned about the long term side effects of finasteride (which these sites proclaim)? And what will be your future regimen/strategy in combating hairloss and maintaing your existing hair..?

Yours truly,

I think you should keep using minoxidil for at least 3 months.. re-evaluate it then

I am not concerned about finasteride's long term side effects at all.
I did experience initial sides but they all went away, and I recently went through a complete checkup for the army and everything returned normal. I feel stronger than ever and my final year's GPA was the best ever (so no brain fog there). I will be taking finasteride for life. Oh, did I tell you that I'm hornier than ever as well? :woot:

I don't really have a future regimen.. I believe that Big 3 is the best one can do. If things get worse, I will get a minor hair transplant down the road.. but I will worry about that later

I dont know whether finasteride has long term sides...That's great if you are not concerned/scared about finasteride's long term sides coz you have achieved what other people only wished they could achieve with the Big 3...i know you have done a lot of research before jumping into the Big 3,but still i want to know whether finasteride has long term side effects coz i am scared..??(am not experiencing any sides till now,but its only a week since i hav started)...
Or are you just ignoring the fact(...if it's a fact) that finasteride has long term sides?

P.S : I am having my engineering exams till mid Jan..i'll will upload a photo of mine for your inputs and feedback..

Yours truly,

No major sheds after that.. perhaps minor sheds here and there, I did not notice them. Hairline is stable, no new growth but stable

According to the manufacturer of Propecia (and various independent studies), long term side effects are rare and they go away after you quit. I majored in statistics and I know a lot about controlled scientific experiments.. unless Merck is totally lying about their scientific data (which I heavily doubt), I feel very very safe. I'm going to trust the doctors and FDA.

Ya i think you are right zeroheat.. Otherwise why would the FDA approve it if it had long term sides or any other potential danger..besides i'm not experiencing any sides so that's a good sign..hey i think you should now change your name from "zeroheat" to "herocool"..coz u look cool now with your new hair avatar and you have emerged as a hero in this hairloss war:):)..

Hey zeroheat, good to hear your still having results on finasteride alone. My situation is much the same as yours was, though I don't know if I'm experiencing regrowth or not. :dunno: Could you maybe give me some imput on what you think here: viewtopic.php?f=28&t=59768&start=20 ?

@Topgun: thx buddy, stay on finasteride!
@deadlocks: I'm actually on minoxidil as well. Typical temple loss, gotta stay on finasteride+minoxidil to keep what you have.. and start saving money for a minor hair transplant in a future. Not sure about using dutasteride, I've never used it.

I think I started seeing tiny vellus hairs after a week or so as well.. I responded to minoxidil very fast if I recall correctly.. keep applying it!

By taking 1mg finasteride on a daily basis, lets say average 60% (i hope my numbers are correct) serum testosterone isn't converted into DHT..How does the body now regulate elevated testosterone levels or do we have to do something like "excercising" in order to maintain optimum levels.? Is excess testosterone harmful for the body?

Re: Zeroheat's Story-(Temple loss, Big 3, 14 month update pg 22)

Hey zeroheat..is DHT really important for the "adult" body though it is primarily responsible for secondary male sexual characteristics?? My second question is does machine and free weights (dumbells, heavy weights in rods, benchpress, biceps/triceps curls,etc,etc..) training excercises (anaerobic excercises i guess) in the gym have any effect on hair or for that matter does it accelerate hair-loss? Since i've read somewhere that most of the body builders, weight lifters or those who go to the gym tend to bald soon..any info on it is extremely helpful as im planning to hit the gym next month..

Zero, I have another question for you... When you experienced regrowth, where those hairs the same lenght as the rest of your hair? I got to know, since I might've regrown some hair on the hairline, but it's really short, and I wear my hair long.

If not, how long did it take for them to grow in lenght / thickness (I know you where a very fast responder so maybe it's different for us)?
