Somebody just put Rudi Johnson on waivers...bad move. he could have a major come back year.

I want to pick him up but I need to put someone on waivers as well...

I thinking Roddy White..good WR but with a rookie QB in Matt Ryan....eh....

thoughts?

I like your team, Cassin. What round did you pick up Witten on? It's interesting to see where the break point is when the top tier receivers go and high scoring tight ends become a prized commodity.

The only problem is that as a Cowboy fan, you'll probably be pissed whenever TO makes a catch! (As opposed to Crayton or Witten). I like Torry Holt... nice snag there. With he and Ocho Cinco, you'll have the potential for some breakout weeks where you put a ton of points up if both of them go off on the same day.

I don't know too much about Rudi Johnson... here is what my Rotoworld guide has to say about Rudi and his move to Detroit:

2007: Rudi’s decline began in 2006, when he averaged a career-worst 3.8 yards per carry. The breakdown came last year. Johnson played in 11 games, but was “limited†in nearly half of them due to a severely pulled hamstring. He topped 100 yards once and his YPC took another sharp drop. He often looked like the worst back in football.
What’s Changed: By the Bengals’ request, Rudi reported to offseason OTAs 10 pounds heavier than he played last season. Reports were exceedingly positive of Johnson’s chances of bouncing back and the team wants him to start. Still, Rudi has no receiving value and the Bengals are likely to use some form of a committee.
Outlook: We’ll get a better feel for Rudi in the preseason, but have very low expectations. Rarely do running backs rebound from seasons like Johnson’s after three straight years of 335+ carries, while nearing age 30. We don't think he'll hold up.
Updated Sep. 1: Free agent Rudi Johnson is visiting the Lions on Sunday night, according to NFL Network's Adam Schefter. There isn't a more running back-needy team in the league. Johnson wouldn't be an obvious upgrade over Kevin Smith, but at least he'd give Detroit a proven power back. Johnson also shouldn't cost more than $1 million.

Lions signed RB Rudi Johnson to a one-year contract
If Rudi is to rejuvenate his career ala Jamal Lewis, this was the best place to do it. His addition may spell the end of Tatum Bell, who will be third string at best. Johnson probably won't be up to speed in the offense enough to carry it more than five times in Week 1, but will eventually be a big threat to Kevin Smith if Rudi stays healthy. He can be grabbed in all leagues.

Its here...

whoever started McNabb must be happy. But then he will miss 5 games this year and have a 14-36 day with 1 td and 4 ints next week.

He's an odd duck.

Wow. What a bummer. The show must go on, though. The Pats still have a heck of a team. But how 'bout those Cowboys??

They hit on all cylinders today. I won't get too worked up until November as I have been a sports fan long enough to know how all of this works.

I am most happy about Patrick Crayton....he really showed me what I wanted to see.

I agree. For that reason exactly, I haven't counted out the Pats...not even close. And yeah, Crayton looked good. I was REALLY impressed with Felix Jones.

Anyone who says the Pats don't have a shot at the playoffs don't know how well that team is built. They're probably going to hover at 25 pass attempts a day and I would be surprised if Culpper or Sims don't get a look as a 2nd QB. I know Dante is 'retired' but they have Moss and a incredibly balanced team so why not? Even without Dante they have a true shot at 9-7...10-6? Maybe need a little luck and a few bad losses to key teams. But isn't that the way it is for every non elite team?

Felix is amazing...so happy with my team right now. The entire state of Texas held its breath when he got dogpiled and was contorted in pain in the 3rd. My cell phone exploded with text messages...haha...I got 5 within 90 seconds and then 5 again about a minute later when he was ok...hahah

Damn Indy's new stadium is stunning.

To be honest, given the schedule, I still see a minimum of 12 wins from this Patriots team and a serious run at the championship. Maybe I'm being a homer, but I think Welker/Moss will make whatever QB is at the helm better than average, and now the Pats can utilize what I think is a very underrated running game. If the D holds up and stays healthy, I still think Pats all the way!!!!!!!!!

HOW 'BOUT THEM COWBOYS!!!

Yeah!!

That offensive line of theirs is scary. I've had sex for shorter periods of time than Romo was sitting in that pocket. He's really good...throws some of the most pinpoint tighest spirolls I've ever seen. And Barber's injury isn't serious, right? He's my favorite player in the NFL.

Also, I was just reading espn.com and it seems the experts have counted the Pats out completely. Maybe I'm being a homer, but I don't think it's over at all. As Cassin said, that team is built very well and isn't completely dependent on Brady. Yes, he's their leader, makes the team go, and is very good...but I think they are a playoff team without him. And are the Bears pretty good, or are the Colts that bad??

I wouldn't count out the Pats. They are very much a system team, and while Cassell might not have the ability/experience to hit those third and fourth reads as quickly and effortlessly as a vet like Brady does, he's still got an arm, and he's still got Moss, and he's still got Maroney behind him, and he's still got a pretty darned good O line in front of him. I don't know much about Cassell (other than he's a Trojan, which automatically gives him a plus in my book), but with game time snaps experience he may develop more veteran vision? Who knows, he may be gifted in other areas?... maybe he's more mobile than Brady is?

Marion Barber scares me. His style of running is one that makes me think he'll be injury prone. Not that he's fragile, but he's just such a hard runner. I'm glad we have a little depth in the backfield to help share the carries.

EasyEd... I was scanning through my fantasy football stats this morning, and in the process of doing so I could not help but wonder what kind of QB2's the Pats might be looking at acquiring to fill the potential Brady hole.

On talk radio coming into work this morning there was talk of Culpepper or Rattay... I'd veto both. But one guy did come to mind, and I think he'd be absolutely perfect for the job. If it were up to me, instead of automatically relying on Matt Cassell, I'd put some feelers out into acquiring Matt Leinart. I've watched him for years at SC, and frankly, I think he'd be a great fit on that Pats offense.

My scouting report... Leinart's down sides: he isn't very mobile, and doesn't have a great long range arm.... which is why he has sucked with Arizona. With the Cardinals, you're either going to Fitzgerald or handing it off, and both need to be done while on the run, all of which are NOT playing into Leinart's strengths. But, Leinart would be a consumnate system quarterback if you can put him behind a half way decent O line and give him a variety of options. Leinart's strengths: he has that vision, he's the type who can make those third and fourth reads. He's the kind of guy who, in the context of a system, WILL put the ball exactly where it needs to be, and do so reliably. Put Leinart on a team with options... a few competent WRs, a receiving Telogen Effluvium, a dual threat RB like Maroney, and I'd think he'd thrive.

Gardener, they brought in Chris Simms today for a physical, but the word is that Cassel's going to be the guy. His backup is Kevin O'Connell, and Simms would be the third string option. And to be honest, I think Leinart stinks. Personally, I think Cassel will be the guy this year, and the Pats will ride him as far as he’ll take them. He’s been in the system for a very long time, and has been playing behind Brady for years, so he must have picked up a thing or two.

It’s official, he’s out for the year. Time to move ahead.

From a fantasy football standpoint, I have to think this kills Moss and Welker, and probably increases Maroney's value drastically...he'll now get far more red zone touches. I actually picked up Sammi Morris in the late rounds, so hopefully that pays off. The key now is Cassel adapting to the offense and vice versa, and the rest of the team (especially the D) staying healthy. If that happens, I think there’s still a legitimate shot at the playoffs.

In Texan terms, should be a good'n tonight!! I actually see Philly keeping it close for a little while but Dallas pulling away in the third and winning by at least 2 TDs. From a fantasy standpoint, I need some good production out of McNabb, so hopefully it's a slugfest.

And how about that ending in Denver? That was a fumble!!! And the balls on Shanahan to go for 2...I loved it!! And the Cutler-Marshall duo will be tearing up this league for a long time, I believe.

The Chargers got douched yesterday.... but that's cool with me, I hate them.

Can't wait for tonight! I hope it's a scorefest, as I got 4 fantasy players going... McNabb, Witten, Nick Folk, and Deshaun Jackson. I only need fifteen points to get ahead of my fantasy opponent, but the more points I get the more gravy for my power ranking in the league.

Should be a good game, hopefully the Cowboys roll.

After last weekend, I picked up a Pat for my team... snapped Sammy Morris out of free agency. EasyEd, after your comment about the Pats concentrating more on the run due to the Brady injury, I thought he might not be a bad reserve to have, and he scored a TD.

Gotta love the Broncos. Even though it was a botched call, a W is a W. Now if the defense would only figure out how to play when the balls not in the red-zone. Also, I don't know what it is with the Broncos, but they have always been a terrible 3rd quarter team. It's like they kick *** in the 1st half and then coast the 3rd quarter, letting their opponents make huge comebacks...Only to finally decide to play the 4th quarter again. Been like that for the last 25 years I've lived in CO.

I've just gotta say, that is the highest scoring, most exciting game I've ever seen before though!
