After last weekend, I picked up a Pat for my team... snapped Sammy Morris out of free agency. EasyEd, after your comment about the Pats concentrating more on the run due to the Brady injury, I thought he might not be a bad reserve to have, and he scored a TD.

Nice! I got him as well. They are definitely being conservative with the pass and looking to run in the red zone. I also think as the season goes on, Morris will not only establish himself as the red zone back, but the feature back as well. And as for the Pats game itself, I was very pleased. I had a discussion with some buddies I watched the game with, and I’m more excited about this Patriots season than I was at any point last season. Last year, and this will make me sound like an arrogant Boston fan, but it got to a point where it was boring because the Pats were always going to win, and then they developed the feel of such a powerhouse that it wasn’t even exciting to root for them. This year, they are going to play in a bunch of close games like yesterday, and will have to grind out wins, which reminds me of the Patriots teams of the early Brady-era which I loved. And I just realized that next week the Cowboys play in Green Bay on Sunday…looking forward to that one.

Easy, do you go to some Pats games? If so, what's the price for some cheap seats?

I might have to head up to Boston to watch 'em play.

Aplunk,

Yeah, I usually try to catch a game every year. They’ve gotten pretty expensive over the past few years given the success of the team. I would say you can get a decent seat for around $75 on craigslist or something like that (face value tickets are sold out). Going to a game this time of year is tougher because the weather is nice, so prices become more expensive, but this is the great time of year to go. As the year goes on and it gets colder, you can get tickets a little cheaper, but you just have to deal with the cold. It’s a great stadium, though…I always have a blast when I go to a game

WTF!!?? If you haven't read about Charles Haley's locker room antics on the Cowboys and 49ers back in the 90s, read below:

That's freakin hilarious... LOL.
Thanks for posting it. I never knew....

As for the Pats... no doubts they will do just fine this year. They have loaded weapons in their lineup, and a core unit that can adjust and at least decently fill in the gaps left by Brady.

Wow!... what a game. Phew! On the edge of my seat for those last two series.

The only downside.... Kornheiser.

Great game indeed! How do you Cowboy fans feel about your D? It was a great game to watch as a non-Cowboy or non-Eagle fan, but I have to assume the fans of either team must’ve been horrified by the defense. You guys concerned at all? Anyway, Marion Barber continues to be my favorite player in the league…what a beast that kid is.

Not worried one bit. Sometimes you just have a shoot out.

To be honest, I came away from that game more impressed with Philly as the losers than I did the Cowboys as the winners. I think the Cowboys would beat them 9 times out of 10, though…the Cowboys attack is just too strong. Dallas reminds me of last year’s Patriots where their offense is so good that they’ll always have a shot to beat anyone because they’re a threat to score no matter where they are on the field.

Don't forget we had Newman out...Pacman rusty and a rookie CB.

True. I actually like Pacman...the greatness (for lack of a better word) of the Cowboys seems to have him truly zoned in and focused on football and winning.

As a Dallas fan, how do you like Roy Williams? He's a pretty hard hitter, but seems to get killed on the pass. I almost feel as if he should add 20 lbs and play linebacker. I was watching that "Hard Knocks" show and the coaches were saying that they can't have him out there on third downs because he can't cover the pass to save his life. He reminds me of an ex-Patriot by the name of Lawyer Milloy. I loved his tenacity and hitting, but he was pretty lousy on pass coverage.

We also had Kevin Curtis and Reggie Brown out. I thought the game was crazy. Good plays, stupid plays, good calls, bad calls. Two of the best secondaries in the league who decided to mostly take the night off... I don't know. I was pretty upset monday night, but looking back, I think this bodes well for Philly. I know everyone is stoked on Pittsburgh but I just don't see it. Just like the Pats vs. the Jets, you can't squeeze by the worst teams in the league and still claim to be super bowl contenders. I don't know...

Pittsburgh’s a contender, as are the Eagles, and the Cowboys, and the Patriots, amongst many other teams. This is obvious, and it may sound cliché, but there are a LOT of teams that still have a shot and are contenders. If there's one thing that last year taught me as a football fan (and a Patriots fan), it's that it almost always comes down to who is playing well at the right time. The Cowboys in my opinion were at least 10 points better than the Giants last year, but the Giants were playing well at the right time, and the Cowboys were struggling at the worst possible time. Of course you need skilled players and coaches to execute the game plan and get you to the playoffs and put you in position to win, but in the key moments of playoff football, there’s nothing like catching a few lucky breaks, gaining confidence, and having some momentum on your side. I honestly didn’t give the Giants a shot last year to beat Dallas, Green Bay, and especially the Patriots…but after a few lucky breaks (Tyree’s catch, are you f*cking kidding me!?...or Crayton’s drop!!), and Eli and the Giants D gaining confidence and playing inspired football, you could just see that team getting better and becoming more and more confident every game.

Nobody in Dallas likes Roy.

I should've known...I hate this pull-from-behind tackle of his:

Anyway, Cassin, I'm sure you're probably psyched about this weekend's game with GB...which leads to my next question: Do you get to any Cowboy games? I imagine those must be great to go to.

Um...IMO football games blow to go to. They're expensive and its too hard to tell what the hell is going on. NFL is the perfect TV sport. NHL is the perfect at the game sport.

But I have been to a few and the atmosphere is awesome..Texas stadium gets so loud.

I give you the entire league as it stands today with everyone in pristine health

I present you you the entire field as a draft...

What number would you take Romo and who would you take ahead of him?

Cassin,

Sorry, but I’m not too clear on your question. Do you mean fantasy? I assume not…I assume just as a football player in getting it done. And I know you said everyone in pristine health, but you’re saying as the league currently stands…does that mean with Brady sidelined? And are you talking QBs only? I assume Brady is fair-play. If you’re talking fantasy, my list would be different, but for having this player on my team to go out there and give me the best chance of winning, here goes:

From just QBs:

Brady (and after yesterday's Pats loss to Miami, I realized how good he really is)
Romo (I would rank him right there with Brady from the perspective of a skilled QB, but I want to see more of Romo in the clutch to see how he stacks up.)
McNabb and Manning (Peyton, obviously) are tied at third, and very, very close to Romo and Brady. Just a step slower than they once were...........
Cutler (Appears to be the real deal...and has a "cold as ice" demeanor to him that makes me feel he'll be very good in the clutch)

From all positions:

Brady
Adrian Peterson (I have only been watching a lot of football for the past 10 years or so, so I don't fancy myself an expert, but he's the most gifted RB I've seen since Barry Sanders)
Romo
McNabb/Manning
Cutler
