I can't believe ppl are still buying these combs. I think LLLT can help...but I cannot imagine having to hold a fricken comb on my head and moving it little by little for even 5 minutes

Lasers are even worse than most snake oils because they cost a lot more. Then again, there is a few clever snake oil merchants that have eBay pages setup. Its only a matter of time before we get one referenced XD

After 24 weeks of treatment, the LLLT group showed significantly greater hair density

this is an interesting study: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/23551662?dopt=Abstract&holding=f1000,f1000m,isrctn RESULTS: >>> "After 24 weeks of treatment, the LLLT group showed significantly greater hair density than the sham device group. Mean hair diameter improved statistically significantly more in the LLLT group than in the sham device group. Investigator global assessment showed a significant difference between the two groups, but that of the subject did not. No serious adverse reactions were detected. CONCLUSION: LLLT could be an effective treatment for Androgenetic Alopecia.

I just had a look at my settings and saw "my reputation" - very interesting comments from some - I thought it may be interesting for you to see it. I wonder how some (soon senior) members get so many green bars for comments of no value at all... while I barely got 1 green bar....well, at least I learned something - e.g. - never before heard of The Dunning–Kruger effect : How could I have lived for so long without knowing it? I re print for you all.... Dunning–Kruger effect is a cognitive bias manifesting in two principal ways: unskilled individuals tend to suffer from illusory superiority, mistakenly rating their ability much higher than is accurate, while highly skilled individuals tend to rate their ability lower than is accurate. In unskilled individuals, this bias is attributed to a metacognitive inability of the unskilled to recognize their ineptitude. Skilled individuals tend to underestimate their relative competence, erroneously assuming that tasks which are easy for them are also easy for others.[1] David Dunning and Justin Kruger of Cornell University conclude, "the miscalibration of the incompetent stems from an error about the self, whereas the miscalibration of the highly competent stems from an error about others". This is a great notion - I love it.... Please YOU - who sent this PEARL, let yourself known to us all so that we know who is that genius..... I bow before your wisdom - unless you found it on Google of course..... :) I heard once:"the stupid have time to look and find things - the smart don't have time - they have to invent them" - poor translation of mine from language you don't even know exists....

Wow, you are so smart and educated and intelligent and stuff! Such superiority!

I totally agree that everyone else here is stupid and only you, even though having no background whatsoever in science or technology, are the one to see through it all!

WOW - I got a green bar yestarday, was it you Benjt?

since Mr.Benjt calls me "smart and educated and intelligent and stuff! - Such superiority!" ...well it feels good when someone thinks of me that way. Really difficult to suppress my Ego this time..... I am also an inquisitive person by nature so I ran some stats for my own interest - I hope it will not go too far beyond your "cognitive bias".... Anyway, back to the stats - so it seems this thread and indeed perhaps the whole Forum may be literally "high jacked" by a few "senior" members / Guardians - who protect "the future students" (term one of them used) and guard this Forum against "new establishment" if I may use paraphrase...they guard it against new inventions in hair loss, against simply anything that would threaten the "BIG three" - and the sales of these products sold on this very web site... If THIS is not a conflict of interest - than WHAT is?? ***********sorry for formatting***** I started this thread on Sep 5 - and in exactly 55 days it had: 8600 views including outside viewers - what do they think of it all? total of 23 members were involved with 113 posts, 13 members had positive approach with 72 entries, 6 members had negative approach with 21 entries and 4 members had unbiased approach with 20 entries To me this results suggests that people in general ARE interested in and open to new technologies in combating hair loss. They don't shut the door - they open to see what is behind them. On the contrary the fierce resistance by a handful of members against anything that deviates from Big Three to me suggests "vested interest" - in protecting the Big Three...and the fact that it is sold on this very web site only reinforces my view that this forum is ONE BIG SHAM...it is run for profit and NOT for the benefit of those who suffer hair loss.. This finding is very sad and I do hope many outside viewers will see this. And as for you - THE Guardians of this forum - you can stay here in this Internet (un)reality and spend your evenings and nights guarding and watching over "your" Forum - it is your life and I am sorry for you. And the worst of all is that I actually don't think you are the Forum, you are only used by the Forum administrators for their own benefit. They are the smart ones - not you...

What you forgot in your "statistics" (which sure look time-consuming) is that you apparently didn't have a look at the other threads the people who you refer to as "guardians of the forum" participate in.

In this subforum, called "New Research, Studies, and Technologies", we currently discuss regenerative medicine approaches based on stem cells, ex-vivo cell cultivation, hair follicle multplication and cloning, and injection of growth-factors such as Wnt7 for stimulation of cell division in hair follicles to induce growth. In the currently most active thread, we are discussing setting up a foundation to financially support research in these areas. Not the "Big 3".

So we are indeed discussing various new technologies which would erradicate any business case for the Big 3, once established on the market, and we can't wait for this day to come which is why we want to set up the foundation.

So, "losing hair", your conspiracy theory once again didn't work out. No sham at work here on these forums. We're just trying to protect agains the sham called LLLT. For everything else, with conclusive (!) backing in science and with well-performed, placebo-controlled studies (such as RepliCel's RCH or Histogen's HSC), we are more than open.

I love Maths, it never lies - if you know Excel as I do - it would take you 5 minutes to put it together... I agree with you all in one thing - if there was a cure I would through everything else away......

We're just trying to protect agains the sham called LLLT.

Why do you think LLLT is a sham? Did you see my results I posted in this thread after 6 months of LLLT? Granted it's nothing earth shattering but I'm ecstatic about my progress. Not only did I manage to halt my hairloss when it most aggressive, but I managed to make some decent gains. I hope I'm not setting myself up for disappointment, but I'm expecting to have most of my hair back by next spring. All without using minoxidil or finasteride.

Yes, I saw your pictures but frankly, I don't see any improvement there. Picture 1 (1 year ago, baseline) was taken under much brigther light than picture 2 (2 weeks ago) and 3 ("today", which was grown out as compared to pictures 1 and 2), so naturally picture 2 seems much better just from the lighting and 3 just from the hair length. Compare your results at 11 weeks (here: http://www.hairlosstalk.com/interac...and-pictures?p=1182933&viewfull=1#post1182933 ) with the first picture from when you started. Almost no change at all.

You can also see the effect of the lighting in your post on your 11 weeks results. The photos taken under the "yellow light" look much better than the ones taken under the "white light", even though they were taken at the same time.

did you see these pictures? The length is the same and the recent photo was taken from a much shorter haircut then week 4 photo.
I just took a picture today. I buzzed my head with a #1 guard all around about a week ago.

This picture is after 4 weeks of LLLT. It was taken the day a buzzed my head or the day after. My new clippers cut much shorter than my old ones so I think it's fair to say that should be taken into consideration when comparing the pictures.

Yes, I saw them. Nonetheless it is uncomparable to your baseline picture because in the baseline photo lighting is way stronger. Could you please take new photos with the stronger/white lighting at buzz cut?

You see how different your photos at week 11 look just based on lighting? The same effect is at work when comparing to your baseline picture.
